We Remember

CURTIS, William Ken

October 30, 1939 — July 28, 2014

Ken passed away peacefully at Central Okanagan Hospice in Kelowna on July 28, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Gerry of 46 years and sons Jeffrey (wife Jackie), Gerald (wife Sandra) and daughter Jolene (husband Todd). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.

Ken was born in Kelowna and has lived with Gerry in the house they built in North Glenmore since 1968. He worked many years in the fruit packing industry until he retired but he will be most remembered for his endless hard work in his vegetable garden. We will miss his joking nature, his love for his family and his passion for being outside in his vegetable garden.

  • Rhonda Rea says:

Dear Gerry and family; It wasn’t that long ago you brought Ken in for a haircut. It’s so hard to believe his strength and positive attitude would be so short lived. I am so sorry that Ken has passed away. I loved his humor, the stories about his family, garden, dogs, and the many pies baked and stored in the freezer. I will see you on Saturday and know my thoughts are with you. I am so grateful for our last visit and hug. What a kind and loving man.

    From my heart; Rhonda

  • Wendy (Hirtle) Olinger says:

Many, many years ago I worked with Ken at McLean & Fitzpatrick Packinghouse as a shipper. He was always so patient and kind and helpful. Ken always seemed to be happy and content.
May the happy memories of a life well lived, help you through this sad time. My condolences to all of the family.

  • Jim and Marie-Jeanne Fenton says:

For decades, we have been neighbors to the Curtis family. Ken was always generous and had a great sense of humour, and a knack for telling a fun story. He especially glowed when he spoke about his family and particularly loved to share the details of his grand-children, all were his pride and joy. We will miss his smiling face on the other side of the fence, and his sharing of his bountiful garden. Also, he is the only one who kept us straight on which day is garbage day, and when watering day is, too funny. He was a good, thoughtful man.

  • Laurette Roth says:
