We Remember

D’AGOSTINO, Rosa

November 16, 1926 — September 18, 2022

“One Love, One Kiss, One Marriage”  If you knew Rosa you would have heard this many times!

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Rosa, on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Rosa was born on November 16, 1926, in Giovinazzo Bari, Italy. She married the love of her life, Angelo, in 1951. Their first child, Vince, was born in Belgium. Their second child, Maria (Gino Secreto), was born in Giovinazzo. She was heartbroken to leave her parents, but there was a better life awaiting her in Canada. Three more children were born in Calgary, Alberta: Corsi (Rick), Gini (Howie Merrick), and Fernando.

Rosa would brag that she was rich… Rich In Love and In Family. And, she was right: 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren!  Mom and Dad grew from a family of 2 to over 100 immediate family members! It was her greatest joy. She was dearly loved by her family, her church (she called them her second family), and sooo many friends and extended family. Rosa suffered overwhelming losses in her life. She endured the passing of her husband Angelo, firstborn Vince, and more recently her daughter, Corsi. She found her strength through her devotion to God and her deep-rooted faith.

Those who knew her were blessed in knowing such an extraordinarily loving, spirited, honest, funny, caring, accepting, generous, devoted, and proud woman. The loss of the matriarch of our family is unbearable. But we will draw our strength from her love and the many lessons and words of wisdom that she has left with us.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 10:30 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes-Catholic Church, 2547 Hebert Rd, West Kelowna, BC.
