DeBRUYN, Anske Jelle (Hans)

It is with great sadness that the family of Hans Debruyn announces his unexpected passing on December 11, 2014. Hans is survived by his loving wife Dorit, his sons John and Michael, grandson Josh, his sisters Irene Storteboom (Garry) and Elizabeth van Akker (Don) and brothers Ralph (Meta) and John (Sharlene), all their children and extended family. He will be missed very much.
Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Hans immigrated to Vancouver, B.C. with his parents and siblings in 1959. He earned a Diploma of Technology in Electrical Engineering from BCIT, and an MBA in Information Technology from York University. During his 30 year working career at IBM, Toronto, he became a successful Product manager. Upon retiring from IBM, he spent several years with the Economic Development Commission and Science Council in the Okanagan. He then founded Okanagan Technology Consulting Inc. and worked on several government projects providing internet to First Nations in British Columbia. Living his life to the fullest, Hans always enjoyed travelling and he dragged his wife Dorit all over the world, although not much dragging was needed. While traveling he pursued his passion for landscape photography. He was a talented musician and shared his great love of music with his family and friends throughout his life.
A private service with be held at a later date still to be announced.
While flowers are very much appreciated, in lieu donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your own choosing in his name.
