We Remember
DENWOOD, Jill
August 21, 1950 — June 2, 2024
Born August 21, 1950, to Ada-Rae and Bill Hartman, Jill Denwood passed away quickly and painlessly with her son by her side in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 73, on June 2, 2024. Married to Derek Denwood (deceased) for over 40 years, Jill and Derek loved each other very much. Jill was a devoted mother to Danielle, Clayton (Melissa) & Jeff and grandmother to Eva, Jemma, Maggie, & Elliot. She loved being a mother to all of them. Jill was a dear sister to Leigh (Rick) and Sandy (deceased). They all love each other very much. Jill had a special motherly bond with Leigh and Rick’s kids, Will and Tom, and was very thankful for that. She was also very close with the Davies family, especially Lois and Leisa.
Jill was a very successful school teacher in both the public and private school systems, eventually ending up at Bishop Strachan School. The effects of her teachings on young kids and the results of that are a testimony to how good a teacher she was.
Jill was good at many sports, like tennis, skiing and golf, she had three holes in one! Jill and Derek always loved a good party. Jill was an excellent party planner, nothing was left to chance, always prepared and always a good time.
Jill will be missed by her many friends, I know she would have wanted to say goodbye to them all.
Goodbye, but not forgotten.

Though it has been a long while since our paths crossed, we remember Jill so fondly for her graciousness, warmth and hospitality. She and Derek invited our family up to the farm a few times and we had a wonderful and memorable time. We remember their parties and celebrations A good time was had by all. Both Derek and Jill were the finest people and the world is a sadder place without them. May your good memories give you comfort during these difficult times.
My deepest condolences to the whole family on the painful loss of Jill. She was adored by everyone who came in touch with her – of course, her family – but also her students and many many friends that she and Derek spoiled over so many years with fun parties, BBQs, dinners at the Farm, tennis matches where only the winners got to shower first ..and the rest of us enjoyed much cooler water at the end of the day! She will join her sweet Derek in heaven where he will sing all his English songs for her and he’ll be able to see again that beautiful smile of hers and reunite to remember what a wonderful, spirited and fun life they had together. Rest in Peace – both Jill and Derek and the rest of us will have all those beautiful memories to help us ease the pain we are now feeling. Fondest love. Laird

She was lucky to move in with her son, when she had to give up her independent living. RIP my friend.

I was saddened to here about Jill’s passing. My father work with Derek so I knew Jill throughout my childhood and through my young adult years. Our paths crossed again when I started work at the Bishop Strachan School with Jill taking the maternity leave position so I could take the full time position. A true testament to her selfless caring for others. I remember her as always positive and fun-loving, She will be missed. My condolences to the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
