We Remember

DESAUTELS, Louis Phillip

November 14, 1929 — March 7, 2014

Louis was born in Kincaid Saskatchewan and moved to British Columbia in his teens.  Louis married Alice Bilodeau in 1951.  During their 57 year marriage, Louis and Alice travelled south for many winters, until Alice’s struggle with illness made it too difficult.   They moved to Lake Country in 2007, just four months before Alice’s death in February of 2008.  Louis is survived by son Victor Desautels, daughter Donna Striha (Mike) and five grandsons – Ryan Desautels, Alan Desautels, Lorin Desautels, Jeffrey Striha, and Robert Striha.  Louis also had six great grandchildren  Alyssa 8 years, Dilon 6 years, Jayden 2 years, Noah 6 years, Brooke 4 years, and baby Hunter 1 year. The family is comforted in knowing that Louis and Alice are now reunited in heaven.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation to support the Kelowna Cancer Centre, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

  • Jacqueline Gresko says:

Dear Victor and Donna and family,
I was sorry to hear of the passing of your father Louis. He was a cousin of my mother Claire Desautels Kennedy. She kept in touch with her Desautels relatives and enjoyed the reunions with Louis and Alice. I remember meeting them at the Desautels gatherings in the Okanagan in the 1980s and 1990s. I will remember your father and mother in my thoughts and prayers.
    Jacqueline
