We Remember
DICASTRI, Robert “Bob” Harry
December 27, 1943 — October 28, 2022
Bob DiCastri passed away peacefully, on October 28, 2022, in Kelowna, BC. He leaves behind his children David, Brenda (Paul), Tara, and Christopher (Nicole); his grandchildren Abby, Thomas, Marley, Katie (Austin), Ben, Elizabeth, Rosie, Kaylie, Ty, and Violet; his sisters Marie and Lorraine; as well as the loves of his life Dorothy and Sandi. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews; his other extended family; and his dear friends.
British Columbia was Bob’s home, not only was he born here, but his love of the outdoors and quadding, as well as his cabin in Green Lake, made BC a natural fit. Bob’s younger years were spent in Vancouver, BC (would you believe he bought his first home in Vancouver for 60k!?!). He eventually relocated to Summerland, BC, and finally he made West Kelowna, BC his home.
During his working life, Bob was a Truck Driver as an employee at Safeway for 20 years. A hard worker and a self-made man, he purchased a Chevron service station in Summerland, and that became multiple locations. He was a leader, and was a part of committees that Chevron had for retailers. He even developed a training program for Chevron Retailers. Later in his career, his Summerland location was changed to Petro-Canada, and then became a Circle Ks. Once in West Kelowna, his leadership skills were put to use at the West Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.
His love of puttering in the shop and finding things to fix meant that Bob was always learning, he loved to learn about how things worked. He was full of “Bob-isms” and “Just gonna putz around” is going to stick with us all for a long time. He was the life of the party and always joking. Bob was selfless, had the kindest heart, and was a family man. He loved babies, kids, and dogs (especially his first, Teko; his Heeler/Spaniel, Sheba; and of course Marty). He was a provider to many in his family.
Bob was lucky enough to go on some cruises and see some of the world, including Alaska. In 2011/2012, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and for a few years he needed the assistance offered in a care home. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
Memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Society of BC, arthritis.ca/campaigns/bc, or the SPCA, spca.bc.ca.

Our Hearts are with You.
We were so sorry to received the news of Bobs passing…..
But as sorry as we are to hear this, also relieved to know he is free. Losing a close loved one is so hard and for that we send our love and condolences. I’m not sure we admired a man that we’ve met over the years, more than we did with Bob DiCastri. He and Lorne “thought” on the same spectrum and quickly developed a deep connection. He was a great teacher, if you were willing to listen. We met him mid life and so glad we did. We had continued to share times together, until one day when he didn’t return our calls. Once we learned why, we were so saddened. A man so bright and knowledgeable, who was always willing to share his vast information, was a gift. His commitment to family was second to none. The stories come out regularly in our day to day lives, with so much ribbing, to and fro between Bob and others. He will continue to bring us smiles in the years to come. Bob will always have a special corner of our hearts. Margie & Lorne J.
We are so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. We have such wonderful memories of our years at Chevron with you and Bob. So many laughs!!!
Our condolences to you and all the family Sandi.
