We Remember

November 17, 1947 — September 25, 2019

Leo was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada on November 17, 1947.  Leo passed away at his home in Kelowna, BC on September 25, 2019.  He will be lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters Joan Lynn, Pamela Finn, Bonnie Lussier and Corrie Aker; his grandchildren James Lynn, Dylan Finn, and Quentin and Jared Jardine; and his sister Faith Nordman and brother Laurie Dickinson. His memory will also be cherished by his nieces and nephews Melody McNicol, Kimberly Truman, and Nathan, Aaron and Sarah Pilato.  He was sadly predeceased by his wife Dorothy Aker; sister Bonita Small; and his father and mother, Willard and Nina Dickinson.

Leo relocated with his family to the sunny Okanagan Valley, at age 15 with his family.  Leo met his wife Dorothy Aker at age 27 and was stepfather to her 4 girls Joan, Pamela, Bonnie and Corrie.

Married 44 years, Leo enjoyed travelling around BC with his wife, collecting treasures and scrap metal and made his living this way. Leo lived the majority of his life in Kelowna and 6 years in Chilliwack, BC. He liked going to the casino and was a well-known member of the Rutland Army and Navy Club. Leo loved automobiles, he was a self-taught mechanic and could always be found out by his truck working on it or with his metal.

Leo had several lifelong friends and he loved to joke and talk for hours. His sense of humour was one of a kind, he will be missed!

Special thanks to Leos Nephew’s Aaron and Nathan Pilato, whom cared for Leo for 3 years after the sudden passing of his wife in 2016.

❤️ A celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Club Unit 376 – 270 Dougall Rd N, Kelowna, BC.
