DIEBOLT, Rita Leonie
September 13, 1930 — October 18, 2017
Rita Leonie Diebolt (nee Petersen) of Kelowna, BC went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2017. She was born September 13, 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta and was the third of eight children of Walter and Renee Petersen. Rita and Ray married in 1952 and raised their 4 children in Edmonton, relocating to Westbank in 1976 where they owned a jewelry store for several years. Mom was devoted to her husband, children, family and her Catholic faith. Upon retiring she pursued her artistic passions and was an accomplished artist. Rita is lovingly survived by her daughter Joan White (Murray) of Kelowna, BC and sons Ron (Wanda) of Castlegar, BC and Greg (Juanita) of High River, AB. Also survived by grandchildren Lindsey, Aaron, Amanda, Sharalynn, Corlene, Dana, Amy, Alaina and Mark, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; by sister Lillian Baxter of Edmonton, AB and brother Christian Petersen of Onoway, AB. Rita was predeceased by her loving husband Ray in 1998 and her daughter Paula in 2014, as well as by sisters Therese Cor, Claire Pashak, Marie Kendal, Denise Mortensen and by her brother George Petersen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gayle Klammer for her compassionate care, as well as the staff at Brandt’s Creek Mews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Avenue, Kelowna, BC, with Father Ron Dechant officiating. Interment of ashes to follow at a later date. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society Canada.
