DILLABOUGH, Cecil
March 1, 1930 — June 2, 2023
Cec passed away peacefully in Kelowna on June 2, 2023, at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife Eileen. They would have been married for 67 years in September of this year. Also mourning his passing are his nieces and nephews as well as his many dear friends. He was sadly predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Potter and Lorna Smythe.
Cec was born in Waskada, Manitoba on March 1, 1930. Cec ran a successful home renovation business in Huntsville, Ontario, and ended his working career overseeing building maintenance for Federal Government buildings in Kelowna, BC where he and Eileen retired. Cec was a past president of the Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club and was an active member of the Kelowna Osprey Project. He loved the outdoors enjoying cross-country skiing, cycling, and hiking. Cec and Eileen travelled extensively worldwide with adventure groups, exploring the local cultures, flora, fauna, and wildlife. His humour and enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Kelowna General Hospital for the care he received.

Cecil was a caring and wonderful Uncle, who loved life. I remember many visits to Eileen and Cecil’s home in Winnipeg, where we enjoyed so many wonderful times. So many memories flooding into my mind, of those enjoyable years. He lived a great and meaningful life. His humor will be missed by all his friends and family.
Warm thoughts to you Eileen. So glad I got to know Cec and his thoughts on life and conservation.
Sincerely, Fran Fisher
I was fortunate to know Cec for many years as a member of CONC , Cec and Eileen went on several of our birding trips.
Cec was a great companion and a patient driver, putting up with all the stops and Uturns!
He will be sadly missed.
Cec’s death is a loss to the entire conservation community. He was a bulldog when it came to standing up for natural features under threat , but a bulldog with a delightful sense of humour. Rest in Peace and condolences to Eileen.

My heartfelt sympathy to you Eileen. So many good memories of Cec. His many environmental accomplishments included spearheading the building of the boardwalk at Maude Roxby Marsh. At the Kelowna Nordic xc ski and snowshoe venue, he headed up the construction of the new cabin on Log Cabin trail now well used by snowshoers and xc skiers alike. Travel memories: Cec and Eileen joined my partner June Thomson and me on a wonderful month long tour of Ethiopia…so many stories to tell!
He will be missed by many. Don Wilson and June Thomson.

Dear Eileen. I just read the sad news of Cec’s passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Bev, and I have been out of town for a
while. Bev is in Europe with Sherrell, and Gerta, and won’t return until the 29th of June. I won’t tell her of this until she returns. We all loved Cec, and will miss him. Please call if there is anything we can help with. Love Bev, and Dave.
