We Remember
DIRKSEN, Elaine
—
Elaine went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2017 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Henry; four children: Dale (Rebecca), Dorrie (Perry) Nelson, Garth (Beth); Gerry (Angie); daughter-in-law Linda Dirksengale; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Wolfe and Marilyn (Hank) Willms. Sadly, predeceased by her son Wes in 2015, one brother and two sisters. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
Elaine was raised in Gravelbourg, SK. She became a nurse in 1954, and was to excel in this profession throughout her lifetime.
Elaine’s life was one of service. This service was expressed not only in her nursing, but in her gift of evangelism, and in her dedication to her family. In 1965, Elaine married Henry, and would raise 5 children: Dale, Dorrie, Garth, Gerald and Wes. Throughout her life, Elaine’s family would be blessed, not only by her constant prayers, but also by her delicious meals. Her table will always be remembered as a work of art and a symbol of her love.
In addition to serving her family, Elaine also faithfully served her church. Elaine’s church community was important to her, and would be a place where her leadership and gift of evangelism would bring many to the Lord.
Elaine will be missed. She is remembered with tears because of the tremendous loss of her presence, and with joy because she is present with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Elaine and I worked together at KGH, Christian Women’s Group, Alpha group and Elaine led a ladies Bible study. I loved Elaine. She gave good counsel. Henry and Elaine welcomed my husband and I into their home and prayed for us. Elaine was so dear. She will be greatly missed. Condolences to you Henry and to the family. Thoughts and prayers. So sorry to hear of Elaine’s graduation – wonderful for her but sad for you and your family. We fondly remember times of ministry and recreation we shared with you both. Know you and yours are in our prayers at this time.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. Elaine was a wonderful person, an inspiration to those who knew her. Her faith was something to be emulated, she was an example to be followed. I pray that your loss will be tempered by the knowledge that you will be with her again one day.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Henry. Elaine was such a dear lady whose smile would light up the room. She was always so thoughtful and caring and she has left many fond memories for everyone who knew her. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A true child of God….. I will forever keep such precious memories with Elaine as like another Mother to me, and my Mom’s best friend of 36 Years. Elaine came to our home one day in 1981 with pie in hand and welcomed our family to the neighborhood. Sure it was a lovely pie, never will forget…. what was more precious is her gentle spoken words of God and invitation to join her family in Church. Our family have been so blessed to have met such a wonderful, caring and precious gift from God. “I will continue the ritual by making pie’s for neighbors and inviting them to Trinity from this day forward…. In memory of Elaine.” Blessings our Angel now may you Rest In Peace. Loved and Missed by many and always forever in our hearts who had the privilege of crossing paths with our now Angel. Love from Sandra and family.
Dear Henry and family: Thank you for your kind talk with me over the phone Henry. I was glad to watch the service. I was so sorry to have missed it. It was a beautiful service and honored Elaine in such lovely Godly ways. Elaine was a dear friend to me since I was in the teen years. She helped me out so much on our wedding day with the decorations. We worked together in Christian Women’s Club and had the same desire to tell people about Jesus and how they could come to know, love and trust Him. Elaine is with the Lord who she so beautifully loved and served. Our sympathy and prayers are with the family. Our love to Henry, Marilyn and Hank and Joyce is a special way. Pete and Shirley Unrau
Thank you for the Love you gave to so many. While we wait to be with you and our Lord Jesus, let us rejoice that we had the time we have had. See you soon Love Fred.
