It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Chris Dobson, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 30, 2023, at the age of 58.

Chris goes to join those who left before him, including his mother, Donna, and his father-in-law, Arthur. Left to treasure his memory are his partner of 18 years, Marnie, and his three children: Brett, Sean, and Megan Dobson, as well as one grandchild. Chris is also survived by his father, Doug (Winnie) and his mother-in-law, Erika; sister, Tara; brother, Charles; and brother-in-law, Jason (Tracey); along with his cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chris, born on August 17, 1965, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, led a life marked by commitment, leadership, and service to his country. Growing up, Chris experienced the nomadic life of a military family (his father served in the army). Following in his father’s footsteps, Chris also embarked on a journey of service and enlisted, where he dedicated five years of his life as a skilled mechanic.

After his military service, he transitioned into the role of Roadside Technician at BCAA. That was the start of a successful career path for Chris. He transitioned into the role of Fleet Manager in the lower mainland, where he demonstrated his organizational and management skills. He then assumed the position of Manager of ERS Fleet & Contract Partners.  In 2017, he moved to Kelowna, BC, and he grew his fleet to where it is today. Part of his success was how he hand-picked each driver to nurture a one-of-a-kind, cohesive team. Chris was helpful by nature, whenever he encountered an open hood or anyone facing distress, he couldn’t help but offer his assistance. His willingness to lend a hand and provide support to others was a main characteristic. He was resourceful and determined, if there was something that couldn’t be fixed, he would discover a way to fix it. Dedicated is an understatement when it comes to Chris, he had that phone of his glued to him, no matter what time of day or night; a driver might need him ya know!

In 2005, his life took a delightful turn as he began dating Marnie. Together, they embarked on enchanting wine tours in and around the picturesque Okanagan. It was during these escapades that he discovered his deep affection for red wine. After that, evenings would often find him immersed in the warmth of a hot tub, sipping a glass of red wine (or “vino” as he called it) and his ever-present phone was still in hand, of course.

Chris had a range of simple passions that filled his life with joy. He had an unbridled love for cars, enjoyed peaceful moments fishing, relished rounds of golf, and adored their beloved dogs. He and Marnie had shared dreams of a serene retirement, envisioning a home located near a golf course, with a spacious backyard providing room for the dogs to run and play to their heart’s content.

Chris’s impact reached far beyond the boundaries of his immediate family. He was an integral part of a vast extended family, providing unwavering support, valuable guidance, and his wealth of knowledge. His departure leaves a lasting legacy of love, respect, and an abiding source of inspiration for all those fortunate enough to have known him. Chris’s influence will continue to ripple through the lives of many, as his memory remains.
