DOWNARD, William E.
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
After a lengthy illness, Bill passed away June 8, 2016. Born in Toronto in 1929, Bill commenced his working career in 1947, working on the ramp at Malton Airport, Toronto for TransCanada Airlines. Bill retired as the General Manager of Computer Systems and Services, Air Canada in 1984. Not willing to stay retired for long, he commenced another short career as a consultant for 2 years and then with enRoute Credit Card, finally retiring permanently in 1990. Bill moved to Kelowna in 1990 and thoroughly enjoyed his memberships at Shadow Ridge Golf Course, and later Michaelbrook Golf Course, until 2010 at which time, failing health forced him to leave the game. Left to mourn his passing are wife Linda, sons Jim (Debbie) of Mississauga and Don (Patty) of Lethbridge, daughter Gail (Wyn) of Courtice, Ontario, and grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Jackie, Carly, and Dylan. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara, in 1998. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road. Please no flowers. If you wish, you may make a donation to the Canadian Institute for the Blind, the British Columbia Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.

Thank you Phil. These last 2 months were very, very difficult for him and I am sure he is at peace. Nevertheless, it’s been a painful week.
