We Remember
DREGER, Douglas Errol Reagan
January 19, 1948 — November 29, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa & great-grandpa, Douglas Errol Reagan Dreger, who passed away in November of 2024. He was 76 years old.
Born in New Westminster in January 1948, Doug led a colourful life whose passion for the outdoors fuelled many great adventures.
From canoeing at Buntzen Lake with his old dog Brandy, to skiing at Kennedy Lake and Manning Park. He always called himself “A professional amateur.” He enjoyed taking his kids fishing and hunting while they were young, an activity that continued with his son, Jason, until the final years of his life.
In the 1970s, he earned his pilot’s license at the Langley Flight Centre. He was constantly getting into trouble for rolling the plane, flying upside down, or flying so low and close to his friend’s houses that he could open the plane door and yell down at them.
Dad worked for Safeway in the meat department and obtained the nickname, Dr. Doug, the Meat Surgeon. He enjoyed having that nickname so much, in fact, that when one of his grandchildren was born when he went into the hospital to meet them, and exclaimed, “The Doctor is in!”
He is survived by his children Pam, Jason, Carmen, and Fraser; his grandchildren, Jarrod, Kasey, Brad, Jasmin, Paige, Chase, Kylie, Blake, and Roy; and his great-grandchild Cash. Doug also leaves behind his beloved cat, Monk.
Let us carry forward the love and laughter Doug gave to us. He was hilarious and full of fun. We’d like to think he and his son, Mark, are sitting in an aluminum boat with their rods in the lake.
May you be at peace, Dad.
