We Remember

DRIEDGER, Joyce

November 9, 1932 — January 16, 2018

It is with deep sadness the family announces Joyce Elaine Driedger (nee Millar) passed away peacefully at Three Links Manor on January 16, 2018 at the age of 85 years. She will always be remembered and cherished by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Cameron Norman Driedger.

Joyce is survived by her husband Cameron, their daughter, Karen (Glenn), son John (Charis); grandchildren: Ken (Stacy), Bob (Amy), Allison (Tyson) and Keaton; great grandchildren: Keiran, Sawyer, Eloise, Dawson and Cooper; her sister Carole (Harvey), brothers Jack and Ron (Corrine), and sisters-in-law, Donna and Joan and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, William “Bill” and Jennie Millar and parents-in-law Jack and Lydia Driedger.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Her family was her life – keeping the household running smoothly for the family.  She graduated at 16, having skipped a couple grades, attended business college, began work at the Lumby branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia, where she met the love of her life, Cameron, and once married, moved around the country where Cam’s career took them, relocating and making friends from Victoria to Toronto, who to this day, continue to remain friends of them both.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the loving and caring staff at Three Links Manor for the exemplary care of Joyce during her stay with them. We took great comfort knowing she was so well cared for.

A memorial service which will be livestreamed, will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 1664 Richter Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 8N3 www.alzheimer.ca.

Cam, Karen and John, so sorry for your loss. She always had a smile on her face. As I sit here watching the Leafs Flyers game tonight, I remember watching these two teams play in your family room on Allangrove. Shag carpet and all. I think that might have been the start of the famous Matus bottle that was exchanged between the families for years. Great memories! Take care.

You were like a second Mom for me growing up. You kept me in line when I needed it and you had the best whistle I ever heard (blocks away). I spent many a sleepover with Karen and endless hours of building Barbie doll houses out of lumber from the building on Kendale Place. The Somers and the Driedgers had a lot of great times together. I’ll miss your sweet, gentle voice and you were one of my role models growing up. We’ll meet again someday, Deepest condolences to Cam, Karen and Family and John and family.
