We Remember
DUECK, Eduard
—
With hearts full of sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Eduard Dueck on Jan 25, 2017 at the age of 88. Eduard was born on August 17, 1928 in Marienau, West Prussia, immigrating from Germany to Canada in 1950. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Anna, 4 daughters, 3 sons, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, one younger sister, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was a devoted family man and was engaged in the noble labour of providing for his family, as a plasterer, farmer, painter, sign maker, janitor and maintenance man. He found joy in applying himself to all his work with great enthusiasm. He moved his family to Kelowna, BC in April 1966 when he purchased his janitorial business, Dueck Maintenance Service. He was also employed for 27 years by the City of Kelowna in the Paint & Sign shop, retiring in 1993. His janitorial business remained in operation until 1999.
He was a man of strong faith, gentleness and loving kindness. He was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be profoundly missed. It is a Hallelujah morning in Heaven, but the tears flow here on earth because we have lost a beloved husband, Vati and Opa, brother and friend.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with interment to follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Mike Penninga.

I had a hard call to measure up to the abilities of Eduard on our work relationship that covered over six years. I was a struggling single mom of three and Eduard and Anne came into my life, as an answer to my prayers, As much as they shook their heads in frustration with me, I am ever grateful to them, for accepting me, inspite of my awkward attempts at being a right Christian, I remember the many, many talks we had and each day at work he would greet me ” Sharon hello, Eduard Dueck here, how are you going ? 🙂 we have much work to get through today, and i could only hope i could keep up to him,. I never really did, as he had skills i could never sharpen. We were able to laugh so much, he was always so kind, even when reprimanding me. His smile lit up my days that were hard, and mostly we did our all to make it a good day. On January lst 2000 he guided me into the sinners prayer, and led me to accept Jesus into my heart. He said to me , this day is special and you will always recall it, I did and i do. I appreciate so much what this gently, smiling man who’s eyes lit up when he talked, and his sense of humour was always there , he encouraged me on many a challenges , and he made me laugh when i was close to tears. Eduard , I thank you for the light you brought into my life, and that of my daughters, . I always knew i could never measure up to you, but please know that in my own way i tried, i tried very hard. You were like a father to me, as we had talked about, and i will never forget you, i still see your shining eyes and kind laugh. A tough but patient boss. Bless you Eduard, you led me onto hope, those years, A hope i still hang onto. As he once said to me If” Eduard Dueck can do it , so can you Sharon” Hallelujah. you left such a legacy for all who knew you.
