We Remember
EDWARDS, Maryann (née Rezansoff)
January 12, 1943 — May 22, 2021
Maryann passed away peacefully at her home in Kelowna with her daughter Candace, brother Alex and sister-in-law Ella by her side on May 22, 2021. She is predeceased by her parents Alexander and Annie, brothers Harold and Lawrence, and husband and best friend George Thomson. A loving mother to Candace Edwards of Sudbury, ON and the late Shelley Daoust formerly of Kirkland Lake, ON, Maryann was a warm and fun-loving baba to grandsons Benjamin Ellsworth of Sudbury, ON and Lucas Daoust of Vancouver, BC. She also leaves behind her brothers Walter (Olga) of Kamsack, SK and Alex (Ella) of Kelowna, BC and sister Luba Chubey (Peter – predeceased) of Kamsack, SK. Maryann is also remembered by first husband Art; sisters- and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; cousins; George’s children: Drake, Deborah, Guy and Suzanne and their loved ones; as well as other family and friends.
Maryann, the youngest of six children, was born and raised on the family farm in Cote, SK. As a young woman she ventured off to Winnipeg, MB to be with her siblings. It was there she first married and became a mother. Next stop, the farm in Chamberlain Township on the outskirts of Englehart, ON. “Fred’s house” briefly provided a “Little House on the Prairie” experience for two little city girls, who witnessed, with awe, their mother master the daily use of an antique wood burning cook stove. Subsequent chapters of Maryann’s life would see her reside briefly in Kamsack, SK, return to Winnipeg, MB, and then spend a brief spell in Iqaluit, NU before finally settling in Kelowna, BC.
Maryann will be remembered for her vivacious personality, infectious belly laugh, her sense of fashion and design, and her love to dance, and play rummy.
Honour Maryann’s selflessness and compassion by doing a kindness for someone and help raise mental health awareness in your community.
Sincere thanks go to Interior Health’s Palliative Home Care Team.

May she rest in Peace, and may the memories of her amazing laugh bring comfort. Maryann will always be fondly remembered and I will always treasure a wonderful visit we had with her and George about 10 years ago.
