ELI, Mary Anne
March 18, 1926 — October 8, 2014
Mary Anne (Jones) Eli born March 18, 1926 to Maggie Louie and Peter Jones in Vernon, BC, resided in Westbank, BC until her passing at Pine Acres Care Home on October 8, 2014. She was surrounded by her friends and family during her last days. Her funeral was held on October 11, 2014 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was laid to rest between her predeceased husband Alec and her son Alfred at Westbank First Nation #9 Cemetery.
Mary Anne was survived by her three children: Annie George (Lawrence), Brian Eli (Karen) and Barb Hill; also by her eleven grandchildren: Chelan, Bernie, Cory, Chad, Buffy, Barry, Kirk, Sherri, Shane, Troy and Karrie Anne and 24 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and God-children.
Mary Anne, an esteemed Westbank First Nation, elder promoted her culture and language. She supported youth, children and her community, helping to establish WFN as a leading First Nation community. Mary Anne worked and volunteered for numerous organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed family, friends, travelling and casinos.
Mary Anne’s legacy will long live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She has passed the torch to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace, you were loved.

Read of Mary’s passing. Wished I could have attended the service for her. many years since I have seen her. I worked with Mary at Okanagan and BC Tel back in the day. She was fun to be around. Condolences to her family, you must be missing her dearly. Many prayers for Mary and the family.
My heartfelt condolences to the family. Mary Anne was a lovely lady as I worked with her at the band office on Shannon Lk Rd many years ago and was a joy to be around.
