ERDMANN, Michael Peter
September 2, 1957 — March 30, 2022
The passing of Michael Peter Erdmann, age 64, occurred on March 30, 2022. He was surrounded by family during this profound time.
Mike was born in Spandau, Berlin, Germany. He made his first trip to Canada as an infant by boat/train with his parents. As a toddler, he travelled once more to Germany and back again, for the
birth of his baby sister (Manuela Erdmann). His family’s final trip to settle in Winnipeg, MB was at the age of 5 years old. Mike lost his parents two years apart in his early teens, after which he lived
on his own at the age of 16. Needless to say, he learned to take care of himself at a very young age.
Early in his adulthood, he met and married his now wife Charlene, with whom he shares three children (Christal, Michelle, and Michael). Mike and his young family loved to travel. On one of their
family vacations, they visited Salmon Arm, BC. A place that stole their heart, and which they moved to and lived in while their children grew from teens to young adults. After their children moved away
and started families of their own, Mike and Charlene moved to Kelowna, BC to transition into retirement in 2008.
He loved to travel and immersing himself in the different cultures that he visited. He enjoyed driving his RV all over Canada. He participated in sweat lodges, ziplines, skydiving, white water rafting,
horseback riding, motorcycle riding, hiking over waterfalls, and all types of fishing.
Mike had a career in selling vacuum cleaners in Winnipeg to support his growing young family. He then dabbled in the trade of plumbing. But ultimately, he settled on overhead door installation and
service. He started his own company in Winnipeg, MB out of his home’s garage. Mike and Charlene built International Overhead Doors to become one of the main overhead door companies in
Winnipeg. The enterprise grew to operate out of their own commercial building.
Mike loved sports and would always be on a soccer, football, or baseball team in his community. He and his family enrolled in Taekwondo as a sport to enjoy together. Their determination for the martial
art was evident in the fact that all members of the family earned their black belts. Mike earned his 5th Degree Master Black Belt designation in the martial art of Taekwondo.
In Salmon Arm, he started another overhead door company to serve the community, as well as a Taekwondo School to further the family’s martial arts training. He and his family participated in
countless competitions, and hosted their own tournaments for Salmon Arm Taekwondo.
Mike’s humble, trustworthy, and honourable nature will be deeply missed by Charlene Lynn Erdmann, his wife of 45 years; his children Christal, Michelle, and Michael; grandchildren Emily, Arica, Ethan, Eliyah, Avery, Kiara, Michael, and Colin; as well as extended family members and dear friends. His humour and his love will be with them.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Horst Erdmann (d. 1971), mother Grete Erdmann (d. 1973), and sister Manuela Erdmann (d. 1996).
A word of gratitude: There are too many people and organizations to name, and there are no words for how incredibly supportive you all have been. You know who you all are, and how incredibly touched I am for the “medicine” you have provided Mike and the family in this tough time.

My family met Master Erdmann over 20 years ago through Taekwondo. Throughout the years I knew him as a kind, gentle, thoughtful, generous, funny, outgoing personality who always showed care with everyone around him. I will remember Master Erdmann as a loving father, husband, and grand parent. My sincere condolences to the Erdmann family.
To Char and family. we are so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. We are met Mike a few years ago, we are neighbors and Mike and I worked on council together. Mike worked very hard for everyone in Elios during his time on council.
We pray you can find peace and joy along with the tears as you share memories of happier times and what a wonderful husband and father he was.
We are thinking of you all at this time and we send our love and hugs

Mike & Family;
Our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father. Although we aren’t able to be with you in person today, we are sending thoughts of peace and strength to you and your whole family. I didn’t ever get the chance to meet your Dad, but seeing the video tribute on the live stream today tells me everything that I need to know about him. I hope that in time, your grief will be replaced by peace in the cherished memories you have of him. God bless you and your family.
I only had the privilege of speaking to Mr. Erdmann once, but I feel like I know him very well because I’ve had the pleasure of forming a close bond with the biggest piece of him I know: his son Mike. It is truly inspiring just how important his list of 5 values were in his life, because I feel like his son possesses all of those values and more, which he is now passing on to his own son. There’s nothing this world needs more than amazing families with deep roots and strong values, so I owe Mr. Erdmann a profound THANK YOU for everything he’s done to pass those values down. Without him, I never would have had the opportunity to experience the generosity his son Mike has shown me over the years, and for that I will always be grateful. My deepest condolences to the entire Erdmann family.
Along with a great many, our Taekwondo family is grieving your tremendous loss.
