We Remember

EREMIA, Mirel Liviu

July 1, 1965 — September 19, 2022

The family of Mirel Eremia is sad to announce that he went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2022, at age 57. Mourning this tragic loss is his loving wife of 32 years, Dana; his sons Andrei and Matei; as well as his mother Albina; brother Marcel (Anca) and nephew Cristian; aunt Olga and cousins Irina and Laura; his mother-in-law Mariana; his brother-in-law Marius; nephew-in-law Andrei; aunt-in-law Florica; cousins-in-law Lia, Viorel, and Ovidiu; and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Ion; father-in-law, Cornel; stepfathers-in-law, Ewald and Stefan; and brother-in-law Florin.

Mirel was born in Arad, Romania. He lived with his family in Targu Jiu until the age of fifteen, when they moved to Timişoara. Mirel was very mechanically inclined. He graduated from high school, achieving the trade of Mechanic for machinery and equipment. He continued his studies at the Technical University of Timişoara, graduating as a Civil Engineer. In 2007, Mirel graduated from Okanagan College as an RV Service Technician and opened ‘Mirel’s Onsite RV Repair’ business. His successful business was in operation until his death.

On May 5, 1990, Mirel married Daniela. They had two sons, Andrei, and Matei. The young family moved to Canada in 2003. Mirel loved music and learned how to play guitar and the pan flute. He achieved a diploma from Timişoara School of Arts as a pan flutist. Mirel had a passion for the culinary arts. The smell of fresh baked bread filled the house often. He was also an outdoorsman, hunting for game meat he would later turn into smoked sausage. Fruits and vegetables were canned for winter enjoyment. He learned how to make soap and shampoo too. Mirel was a huge fan of organic farming and supported his local community. His passion for health and nutrition was evident in the way he looked after himself and his family.

He enjoyed researching different topics and would dive headfirst into projects. He built a BBQ-smoker, tinkered on motorbikes, cars, and trailers. He took classes on forging metal, taxidermy, made leather hats and more. He was creative and ingenious in his designs and could create ‘something from nothing’ and “build it better”. He had a mischievous smile when he was pranking or teasing his family and friends, and his sense of humour was sarcastic at times.

Mirel had a deep love for God. Daily devotions and time spent reading his bible was the start and end to Mirel’s day. He was a founding member of Aletheia Pentecostal Church and served faithfully on the praise and worship team in Romania. In Canada, Mirel was a member at Kelowna Christian Center where he led a small faith group for the past eight years. Mirel was very supportive of the Okanagan Valley Pregnancy Care Centre.

Mirel will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
