Born March 26, 1925 in Morris, MB and was called home by her Lord January 6, 2017. She was trained and employed as a bookkeeper, but she enjoyed her calling as a Pastor’s wife immensely. She and her late husband Waldemar, served churches in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia, returned to Alberta and then retired to Kelowna. She loved her Lord, her husband, children and grandchildren and also enjoyed fine china, crocheting, reading, cats, crossword puzzles and Sudoku just to mention a few things. All who knew her recognized her gentle, peaceful spirit, and her deep and abiding love of the Lord. Myrtle is predeceased by her husband Waldemar, and her brothers, Eldon and Leslie. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Crystal (Norm) Krause and their children, Kyle and Kia; son Alex (Susan) Ertis and their children, Brandon, Shalan and Darren; and her sister Myra, and numerous other relatives and friends. While we mourn the loss of our dear Aunt Myrtle, we rejoice in knowing she is with her Heavenly Father! What a blessing to have had her with us all these years… Our deepest sympathy to Alex and Sue, Chris and Norm and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
Myrtle’s absence leaves a huge empty space which she filled with such grace, strong faith, and genuine warmth; so we grieve together with the family because a hole has been torn in our lives.
As a family, we shared many happy moments with Myrtle over the many decades in Calgary, Kitchener- Waterloo, Edmonton and later in BC.
I remember Myrtle mostly as a woman of grace, dignity and exceptional kindness. She served unreservedly alongside Waldemar , our uncle, in the ministry, with great diligence, wisdom and care; yet all the while encircling her children with a tender and tenacious love. Her love was unmistakeable – and she widened that embrace for each of her children’s’ spouses , and then her grandchildren – whom she unfailingly, untiringly, consistently covered in prayer.
Because above all Myrtle was / is a woman of deep and unshakeable faith In Jesus, and a woman of abiding prayer. One could feel it, almost touch it when one spoke with her.
So through the mist of this sadness at this immense loss of a remarkable woman of God and beloved aunt, there arises a subtle hint of triumph – an assurance which overshadows the grief – that Myrtle is now, in the fullness of her beauty and her strength, in the joy of the Lord . . .where we will all meet again.
Lovingly Veronica & Josh
