We Remember
FAIRS, Mark Stanley
August 12, 1956 — July 29, 2024
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Mark Stanley Fairs, who passed away in his sleep in the early hours of July 29, 2024 after suffering from complications from diabetes, resulting in kidney failure.
Mark is survived by his sons Devon (Rhiannon), Adam (Tanya) and daughter, Shayla and 3 precious grandchildren, Braxton (3), Brynlee (2) and Dawson (5 months). He also leaves behind his older sister Cheryl Prinsenberg (Henk, deceased). Mark was predeceased by his parents Milton Fairs and Rose Fairs (nee Seniuk) and his older brother Clive Fairs. He had numerous sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Born on August 12, 1956 in Burnaby, BC, Mark, the youngest of 3 children was a mischievous little boy always looking for trouble to get into (in a good way), and by the age of 14 learned everything he could about dismantling cars and finding a passion for classic cars. He owned a 1957 Ford Ranchero which he had for many years, eventually selling it, and reclaiming it once again some years later. Restoring this old vehicle several times became a life-long sentimental venture. He and his former wife Cindy Fairs who he was married to for over 30 years would spend many hours together at classic car shows. Mark also was a hobbyist of Vans back in the ‘70’s and he bought his first brand new vehicle, a 1976 Ford Econoline at the age of 20. Together he and Cindy would join a Van Club where they would make life-long friends and travel together with the club.
After getting married to Cindy, they would have 3 beautiful children, Devon, Adam and Shayla. Although his children would become his life’s focus, their youngest child was born with a rare condition, Tuberous Sclerosis. There were many years of difficulty as they traversed their daughter’s challenging health condition and navigated the health system, while providing care for her. She essentially became the ‘apple of his eye’ and he doted on her. Even during this last year, he would continue to take her out for lunch each week, just to spend time with her. His boys of course were always by his side helping him where he needed help and communicating with him daily. His oldest boy Devon, had moved to Grande Prairie with his wife and child in 2023, and recently in early July, Mark and Cindy took a 12-hour drive out to see them knowing that this might be the last time.
Mark especially loved going to Pavilion Lake, BC, where he owned property and where he would enjoy spending time with family and extended family. He would love to go out on his boat, visit with the neighbors and sit around the campfire. All those who knew him would consider his best qualities to be his humor, his generous nature and love for helping people where he could. He especially loved hanging out in the garage with his son Adam and tinkering on cars. However, wherever you would find Mark, you would also find his dog Chiko, who he would describe as his best friend, and who was always by his side even until the very end.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TS Canada.

I remember the day when I came over from the UK and met my cousin Mark for the first time and we hit it of together straight away and the same with the rest of the family. Mark was a funny, caring, generous and a wonderful man that I had ever met. I remember going to the lake with him and then onto Vancouver to meet Clive. I have such great memories of us doing this together Mark, which I shall never forget and all the video calls we had together and the laughing and joking around we had and even with the time difference you didn’t care what time I called you. I shall miss you Mark, you are always forever in my heart ♥ love you always Amanda XOXO
