We Remember
FARAGO, Gizella
April 16, 1923 — December 4, 2022
At age 99, Gizella Farago went peacefully to be with the Lord in her heavenly home, while she was surrounded by her family at Vineyard Residency, on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Gizella is survived by her children and their spouses: Margit (Les), Zenobia (Wolfgang), Luke (Ilona), Julie (Steve), Lou (Margit), and Anne (Frank); her grandchildren Rob, Gloria, Steve, Michelle, Christian, Sylvia, David Farago, Richard, David Bene, Christine, and Jeremy; as well as her great-grandchildren Steve, Emilia, Luke, Bria, Carson, Lily, Levi, Livia, Reef, Wells, Alex, and Piroska. A few months before her death, her husband of 79 years, Geza, also passed away in October 2022. He would be at heaven’s entrance, welcoming Gizella home, together again.
Born April 16, 1923, to the late Matyas and Julia Radnics in Ludas (Szabadka), Yugoslavia, Gizella was the second youngest of 13 children (and the last survivor in that family unit). At the age of 20, Gizella met the love of her life, Geza, and they married September 8, 1943. They had 6 children. They moved to Hamburg, Germany in the Autumn of 1970 and immigrated to Toronto, ON in January 1977. In 1989, they retired to Kelowna, BC.
A talented seamstress, stencil artist, and a great cook and baker, Gizella was creative, and she loved to entertain others. She took joy in canning the harvest from her fruit trees and garden. She loved going to prayer meetings and loved praying out-loud. Gizella dedicated her time volunteering at her church. She also offered her time ministering to the Hungarian’s in missionary work; at camp meetings and church gatherings she helped with cooking, baking, and cleaning. When she was relaxing, she would settle in with a good biographic book or her Bible; she had a profound love of reading her Bible and praying daily. She looked after her mother- and father-in-law for over 30 years in her own home. Gizella lived out her life with grace, humility, and integrity.
Gizella will be forever remembered.
