Dear Warren and family,
Irene was one of a kind! The two of you were a gift to my life that year when I was a first year school teacher at Assiniboa high school in 1977/78. I am so glad God led me to Congress Baptist Church so you could “adopt” me. Fortunately for me, you were the gift that kept on giving and our friendship continued for decades. Irene was a loyal, caring, kind, dedicated friend. She took a lively interest in all the twists and turns of my life, welcoming my husband and children into her heart in equal measure. I still remember the countless Sunday dinners we shared that often extended late into the evening as you shared your warm hospitality with me. Irene made that old farmhouse into a place of charm and hospitality. I even remember experiencing homemade root beer for the first time in your kitchen. I think i also remember watching irene grind her own wheat at a mill in the basement? Her baking and her bread were legendary! Irene always had a smile and laughter bubbled up at the slightest provocation. What joy she brought to my life! With “godly earthiness” and not a hint of embarrassment Irene helped to prepare me for the realities of married bliss. She was a stylish lady, always dressed smartly and beautifully coiffed, Irene raised the bar for the rest of us who were tempted to live perpetually in “casual Friday mode.” I know she will be missed every single day by Warren, the boys, her daughters-in-law and those two precious grandkids. Please accept condolences from Gerry and me. We pray that Irene’s memory would always give you joy and strength and would bring a smile as often as a tear. With love from Connie and Gerry Taillon
So sorry you have lost your partner and best friend. Our prayers are with you and your family at this time.
It is with much sorrow that we just received word of Irene’s passing. Our deepest sympathy and love to you Warren, Ross, Jeff and families. Irene was a wonderful friend, an endearing, loving person and “refined lady!” There was simply something special about her that I always enjoyed whenever we visited, as families, or as young moms exchanging recipes. Irene has left behind all this earth holds dear, it will be a sorrowful time for Warren, Ross, Jeff and families. However, we are also assured of a celebration of joy and release as she now beholds her new family, our Heavenly Father and her friend Jesus.
Our prayers are with you Warren – love to each one in your families, Ruth (Meginbir) and Wendell Rice.
Warren, Ross, Jeff & families

Dear Warren (& family):
Have been away nearly 3 weeks. Joyce let us know of Irene’s homegoing when we arrived home last night. Our times together, Warren, at BBI, were special ones. Later we met the “queen” of your life at reunions & once or twice in Kelowna…after we had moved away. Irene was a gem, provided for you by our God. Now, we sorrow with you but we also rejoice with you as you know you will someday be united in that heavenly kingdom prepared for us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love and our deepest sympathy. Rudy & Gladys Janzen
Dear Warren:
We have been away for a few weeks. Joyce let us know last night, on our arrival home, that Irene had passed on to her heavenly home. Warren, we have some special memories of our years together at BBI. Later, at reunions & a couple of times in Kelowna, we met and came to know the “queen” of your life. What a gem the Lord provided for you! Too bad we moved from Kelowna and you moved to Kelowna…we likely would have spent much more time together if we had been nearer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Rudy & Gladys Janzen
