We Remember
FLETT, Marjorie Gladys
March 29, 1921 — April 9, 2016
Marj’s family sadly announces her passing at the age of 95 at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna. She had been struggling for the past several months and died peacefully with her family around her.
Marj was a lovely lady, born and raised in Winnipeg, where she married the love of her life, Perry and raised their four children. The summers with her at the lake cottage in Ontario are fondly remembered and cherished by her children. The family moved to Westbank in 1969 when they retired and embraced Okanagan life with vigour. Marj and Perry loved living on the lakeshore in Westbank and did so for 24 years. There they made many neighbourhood friends and had a vibrant social life. They were active in the Theatre Kelowna Society group for many years and Marj sang, acted and danced in many productions. Her greatest and most proud role was as Golda in Fiddler on The Roof. She was also a great supporter of the Okanagan Symphony that she loved to attend with a seasons pass for over 40 years. Marj was an ardent bridge player and golfer, enjoying both throughout her life. She loved fashion and could often be seen modeling at many events.
Marj was an enthusiastic world traveller, visiting 39 countries over the years. She and Perry enjoyed RV-ing and had many trips with the Ok-Noggins club as well as many trips on their own travelling around the Pacific Northwest.
In later years, Marj and Perry moved from West Kelowna to the Glen Meadows Community where Marj lived for over 20 years. She developed many friendships there and enjoyed the abundant social events.
Marj was a wonderful wife, mother and Grandmother and was greatly loved by all of us. She had many friends and was a friend to many.
Left to cherish our memories of her are 3 sons, Stephen (Janice), Mark (Margaret), Dean (Hilary) along with her 6 grandchildren, Chelsea and Ryan, Peter and Jeremy, Evan and Davis. Marj was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Perry and by her eldest son Todd. Her special friend, Jack Wiebe predeceased her by several days.
The family would like to extend our thanks to the staff and residents of Lakeshore Place where Marj lived for a year and a half until last September and where she was very happy. Since then, Marj had resided at Lakeview Lodge Care Home in West Kelowna. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel towards the wonderful, caring staff in the Shores neighbourhood. Their loving care and attention made Marj’s last months as rich as they could have possibly been.
We will miss you very much, Mom, and send all of our love along to you wherever you may rest.

Condolences to the Flett family. Marjorie was a wonderful lady. I’m so happy she and Jack were able to enjoy so much of each other’s company. It gives me comfort to know that Marjorie’s prayers were answered. Blessings.
Thank you Ron. Yes Jack and Marg enjoyed good times over the past several years.
We will miss them both. Condolences to you for your loss of Jack. Interesting that they both went within a few days of each other.
Flett family, We are saddened to hear of Marj’s passing. We were honored to have known and loved her as a member of Westbank United Church choir. She will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Condolences to all the Flett family. I have known Marjorie for about 8 years now through Jack Wiebe my father in law. Sailaica, Kaylan and I enjoyed many wonderful dinner evenings with the two of them a few times a year when I was in town. I knew Marjorie was a treasure from the first night we met. You could not help to fall in love her she was so intelligent, interesting and sharp as a whip. She was so beautiful and I knew she must have been a model, she was also so well read and took time to really be interested in all our family. She was a blessing to my family and to Jack. She will be very missed.
Sorry to hear about the passing of Marj. My grandfather and Marj had made such a great team in their golden years. Jack was physically able to help Marj while she kept him sharp with her mind. I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Marj the past several years and I was always amazed at the conversations you could have with her. It never felt like there was an age gap when you talked to Marj. She was genuinely interested in learning our generation, probably from her loving interest in her grandchildren. My heart goes out to the Flett family as well as my sincere appreciation for everything she did for my grandfather Jack. May you rest in peace Marj.
Thinking of the Flett Family at this sad time. I feel honored to have spent time with Marj to hear her wonderful travel memories and her stories about her kids, grandkids and her daughter in laws. She loved all of you very much and always had a twinkle in her eye. She was always dressed to impress and had a beautiful cheeky little smile. She will be greatly missed. My condolences, Sailaica
