We Remember
FLICK, Tyrell Walker
August 5, 2001 — July 12, 2022
Broken-hearted, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Ty, killed in a car accident weeks before his 21st birthday. Taken from us far too young, Ty’s absence leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
Born and raised in Kelowna, BC, Ty graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary in 2019. Always a quiet one, he played centerfield in baseball and loved music (“pretty much my life”), movies, candy, gaming, cars and getting out of the city. He believed in living in the moment and marched to the beat of his own drum. He lived life the way he wanted to, never letting the opinions of others get him down. He was kind, selfless and always there for his family and friends. He was the friend they talked to when they needed help because he’d always have something of value to say. He was easy going and friendly, with a funny, deadpan style of humour. Ty was playful and often had a good-natured smirk. He made every family gathering so much better. He was as honest and as real as anyone could ever be, and as pure and true to himself as anyone you’ve ever known. We’ll always remember him as the young man who had a big heart, always up for an adventure, always calm, dependable and kind.
Ty is survived by his parents, Dave Flick and Toni Flick, and his stepparents, Scylla Flick (née Paul) and Brad Trach; his stepsisters, Shay-Lynn and Kiona; his grandparents, Dave and Beth Flick, Ingrid and Frank Delaratta and Larry and Janice Downham; his cousins Josh, Krista, Kevin, and Liz; his aunts and uncles Jamie Flick and Clay Williams, Kim Flick and Mike Belus, and Lisa and Joe Bertrand; and all the many extended family members who share our grief.
A Celebration of Life will be held on SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at 228 Valley Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the SPCA in Ty’s name. Hug your loved ones and tell them you love them, because sometimes there’s no second chance. We love you, Ty. Never forget who you are, little star.
Waves of sorrow crash over the shards of our broken hearts
Searching for answers
Though no reason will ever assuage the pain
There’s no poetry or lesson, no bigger purpose,
No second chance
Just a kind and gentle soul taken far too soon
