We Remember
FLYNN, Deborah
July 13, 1955 — August 6, 2025
Deborah Flynn passed away at Kelowna General Hospital and joined her beloved Harry, with whom she shared 28 years.
She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Known for her boundless creativity, warmth, and dedication to family, Deborah’s presence was the glue that held everyone together.
She is survived by her daughter Patty Rhodes; son Cody Murray (Katie Pigeon); grandchildren Chantel Rhodes (Sean Schultz), David Rhodes (Caleb Rosenthal), and Carson Murray; niece, Laura (Rob) Copping; many nieces and nephews; and her “furbaby” Star. She was predeceased by husband Harry in 2016; her parents, Glenn and Lillian Smith; brother, Rick Smith; and sister, Heather Fleming.
Deborah loved crafts and cooking, bringing joy and beauty into every season. Christmas was her favourite time of year—so much so that it stretched from November through February, complete with her famous homemade chocolates and festive baking. Special tablecloths marked each holiday and special occasion. Her legendary 7-layer lasagna was a highlight of countless family gatherings.
A talented artist, Deborah poured hours into her beloved 5D Diamond Art, gifting each family member a sparkling piece of her heart. She was also an avid book lover who treasured her quiet bath time, a small retreat from her wonderfully busy life.
Deborah’s adventurous side shone through in her love of road trips with her husband, Harry, a long-distance trucker. She was also a huge Elvis Presley fan and, in an extraordinary chapter of her life, acted in over 50 western movies—a testament to her spirited nature and willingness to embrace life’s opportunities.
Above all, Deborah’s greatest role was as the matriarch of her family. Her love, laughter, and unwavering care created a home filled with warmth and belonging. She leaves behind a legacy of traditions, memories, and unconditional love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
