We Remember
FORSTER, Mary “Virginia”
September 18, 1916 — May 12, 2013
Virginia Forster (nee Christian) died peacefully following a sudden, brief illness, in Kelowna BC, with family at her side. Virginia had been a resident of Trail BC for more than 70 years, before moving to Kelowna in May 2011 to be closer to family. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be deeply missed by all. Virginia lived a life of honesty, integrity, thoughtfulness and self-sacrifice and was gratified to see her children become successful in life. Virginia was an avid bridge player, cribbage player, reader, and had been a wonderful dressmaker for many years. In her retirement, Virginia was able to travel to many far-flung destinations with family, and with longtime friend Dorothy Kandborg. Virginia had been a member of the West Kootenay Naturalist Association and the Pythian Sisters, and was active in the Trail Senior Citizens Association prior to her move to Kelowna. Virginia was predeceased by her husband George (2003), daughter Margaret (2005), and twin brother George (1999). Virginia is survived by children Helen Perry (Pat), Kelowna; David Forster (Candy), Mississauga; Richard Forster (Sheila), Kelowna; Murray Forster (Leonora Angeles), Vancouver. Also survived by nieces Lynne, Gail and Jane, and nephews Gordon, Charlie, Evan and Robert, their families, and family friend Sybil Cowlin. Virginia was treasured by grandchildren Dylan (Jeri), Stephanie, Darcy (Angie), Lisa (Darren), Shauna (Andrew), Nathan and Seneca, and by her great grandchildren Andie, Charlie, Julia, Simon, Benjamin, and Mia. “Grandma” will also be fondly remembered by Mackenzie and Taylor, Jeri’s daughters.
There will be a Memorial Reception/Tea at the Trail Senior’s Centre on July 15, 2013
at 2:00 pm in memory of Virginia Forster, resident of Trail for 70 years. Virginia Forster’s four surviving children will be at the reception to share remembrances of Virginia with her friends and the family.
Virginia’s ashes will be interred at a later date, when they will be placed beside her husband George, in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Trail, BC. A Memorial to Virginia’s memory will be held at an as yet undetermined time. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

To Dear Helen and all your family, we send our deepest condolences following the loss of your dear Mother Virginia. May she rest in peace.
Love from some of your Aussie family, Lyn Guest, Dianne Aspland and Peter Wright. (Ellen Christian’s great grandchildren.)
Virginia was always a special lady and I am glad that I had the chance to know her. She was the lady who kept bridge on track down at the seniors.
My condolences for her family.
