We Remember
FORSYTHE, Catherine Helen
April 16, 1950 — February 16, 2026
With immense love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Catherine Helen Forsythe – our mother, our best friend, and our comedic relief – who left us on February 16, 2026, at the age of 75.
Catherine is lovingly survived by her children, Craig (Dayna) Forsythe, Alison Forsythe, and Michael (Teresa) Diotte; her cherished grandchildren Rowan, Aubrey, and Ellis; niece Katherine (Mitchell-Colozza); brother-in-law Bill Mitchell; cousin Ipatia Apolistidis, who grew up alongside her; and many other loving cousins and extended family members.
She now joins those who passed before her, including her parents, Bill and Vicky Young, and her sister Helen Mitchell.
Born on April 16, 1950, in Greece, Catherine immigrated to Canada as a young child and grew up in Toronto, where she attended Jarvis Collegiate Institute. In her early years, she worked at Eaton’s in Toronto before moving west to Kelowna in the early 1970s, where she married and embraced her most cherished role – as a devoted Mum, raising her family with love, humour, and care.
Cathi had a talented gift for making a house feel like home. In every place she lived, she left her mark — filling rooms with beauty, thoughtful details, and her unmistakable style. She was always ready with a welcoming pot of coffee or tea, and her kitchen table was a gathering place for conversation, laughter, and games of Scrabble. Her menagerie of cats and King Charles Cavaliers kept life lively, with a new quirky companion arriving almost like clockwork each year.
She always kept busy and had a project on the go – gardening, landscaping, painting, sewing, taking on renovations, thrifting, or planning her next decorating project. All of this alongside her best friend and “right arm”, Anita Anderson. She thrived on creativity and loved transforming spaces into something special. Even while facing health challenges, she kept herself busy and inspired.
A member of Preceptor Alpha Theta in Kelowna, she valued the personal connections the sorority offered.
Cathi was known for her sharp wit and quick humour, bringing laughter and light to those around her. As a mother and grandmother, she was fiercely loving, endlessly supportive, and deeply devoted. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter unforgettable, and her love immeasurable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A Memorial Gathering will follow for all who wish to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathi’s honour may be made to the BC SPCA at www.spca.bc.ca.

Dear Allie, family and close friends of this lovely lady, I’m so very saddened to learn of her passing. Even though we only met a few times, the memories of each encounter are warm and positive. There are few words that can bring comfort at this most difficult time. We wish to express our deepest sympathy, and send healing thoughts, love and hugs most sincerely, Joanne, Mark and Danny Beaulieu
I am honoured to have known Cathi. Her door was always open and the coffee pot on. She had me rolling around laughing in tears with her dry humour and ‘one liners’. Cathi had a big heart. I will miss her. Rest in peace Cathi.. my condolences to all of her family 💕
To the Forsythe Family: I’ve known Cathi for several years from being an Ellison neighbour and having our 2 sons, David & Michael, being best friends throughout school. Cathi was always warm, friendly and up for a visit anytime. I will dearly miss her sense of humour, always laughing at her own antics and making others laugh along. Her decorating ideas were always the talk of my 3 kids after enjoying an afternoon at the pool in Cathi’s yard. I visited her after her move to Glenmore and enjoyed a pot of coffee and lots of laughs. We kept in touch via Facebook and I will miss her updates on the latest reno catastrophe. I am very honoured to have been considered her friend and she will be forever in my memories. Sending all of you my sincerest condolences at this time of loss and sorrow. Dawn Gibson & Family
Our condolences to the family and friends of Cathi.
She was called home too soon.
She will always be remembered by her kind heart.
I am so sorry to hear of Cathi’s passing. She was so talented in so many ways already mentioned! She worked hard to help keep us Forsythe /Forsyth cousins connected and it was appreciated! Loved her art and wonderful, kind words whenever my Mom Cora Forsythe or I were in touch. You will be missed pretty lady ! 🩷🌷
Cathy was a special friend and it was always an adventure to spend time with her. We have two of her paintings that we treasure. We will miss her energy and laughter.
Dear Alison, Craig, Michael and families
Cathi and I go way back to the early 70’s when we were both young and single living in Toronto. She always had a way of making me laugh. She was always willing to help anyone wherever she could. I will miss her. I hope your happy memories will help you thru the grieving process
