We Remember

FORTIER, Maurice Louis
—
Maurice went to be with the love of his life, Juliette, on October 8, 2015. Survived by children Robert (Susan) Diane (Brian) and four grandchildren. Maurice was born on July 18, 1933 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He was raised on a farm in Letellier, Manitoba. As a teenager he moved to St. Boniface, Manitoba to study at St. Boniface College. After graduation he went on to become a draftsman and it was during this time he met Juliette. They would go on to share 53 years of marriage. Never were two people more in love. During his younger life, dad was an avid stamp collector. He also did much fishing and camping. In 1979, in a spirit of adventure, he decided to move the family to Surrey B.C. There he became a long-time member of St. Bernadette parish. Here he became a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed volunteering at bingo. In 1995 he retired with Juliette to Westbank. B.C. for the final chapter of his life. He was in quite good health until three years ago but then suffered a stroke. Since then he battled with his trademark stubbornness, his declining health. Like a boxer in the 12th round he went down swinging. But the love he shared with Mom was too strong and he went to be with her. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9. Robert and Family, Diane and Family – Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
We had such wonderful times and memories with your Dad and Mom. We met them in 1984 when we moved to BC.and joined St. Bernadette Church. Such great times we had. We also enjoyed meeting both you and your families. We missed Julie when she passed but still managed to keep in close touch with Maurice. We will remember them both as wonderful friends. God Bless Them both as they are now together again. Leo and Leone Sabot
