We Remember
FOWLER, Lucy Mary
June 8, 1924 — April 4, 2014
Born on June 8th, 1924 in Cape Town South Africa passed away on Friday, April 4th, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Vernal Fowler in April 1991. They immigrated with their family to Winnipeg in 1966. Lucy re-located to Kelowna in 1992. Lucy is survived by daughter Shireen Stokes (Jim), son Trevor Fowler (Thelma), her sister Helen Barr, brothers George Williams (Matilda), Alwyn Williams and her 7 grandchildren Ryan, Rayna, Jeremy, September, Trevor, Neo and Moletwa. An entrepreneur all her life, she operated her own store in South Africa and when opportunity presented itself in Canada, she bought the gourmet cheese shop that she worked in, to once again be her own boss. A true testament to how Lucy lived her life. Active for many years, Lucy volunteered at Kelowna General Hospital and was very social in activities like bowling and bridge, the game she was born to play. Lucy lived her life very similar to the way she played cards, always with a smile and an ability to always see herself as winning, even when she lost. Lucy made many friends in the game of life and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 12th at 1.30pm at Westbank United Church, 3672 Brown Road, West Kelowna. Access off Elliot Road, behind the Lions Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association.

Lucy was such a sweet, kind lady and I feel lucky that she was a special part in my life! When I think of her…. I think of her smiling or laughing at the dinner table, her watching late night TV and going to her suite to enjoy her homemade jam filled cookies : ) Our prayers and thoughts are with you Shireen, Jim, Ryan, Jeremy, Rayna and all our your extended family. May the joy of many special memories you shared with Lucy comfort your hearts during this difficult time. Love you xoxo
