We Remember

FRASER, Carleen Ann

October 10, 1956 — April 20, 2025

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, wife, and grandmother, Carleen Ann Fraser. On Easter Sunday, April 20th, at the age of 68, God took Carleen to heaven.

Carleen was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, to parents Romen and Hazel Hildebrandt. She lived in Langenburg on the family farm until she left home for nursing school, then settled in Brandon, Manitoba. Carleen met her devoted husband Neil in Brandon, where they married and had their two daughters, Danielle “Dani” and Nicole. Carleen and Neil enjoyed successful careers and many great friends and memories during their time in Brandon. In 2000, Carleen and Neil moved to beautiful British Columbia and settled in Kelowna. Carleen finished her nursing career with Baptist Housing, where she earned awards for her admirable leadership skills. In 2019, Neil and Carleen built their dream home with a magnificent view of Okanagan Lake. They spent many happy times on their back deck with a glass of wine, enjoying their fabulous view. Carleen lived the remainder of her life in Kelowna — a city she and Neil had always loved.

Carleen dedicated a great deal of her life to helping her loved ones, often putting others’ needs before her own. She was the type of person many people turned to for guidance. Carleen was unwaveringly strong in her Christian faith and spent a great deal of time attending Trinity Baptist Church, as well as volunteering as a Deacon, Elder, and Alpha leader there. She prayed for others on a daily basis, even those who would not have expected her to. Her personality was contagious, and she had the ability to connect with anyone she crossed paths with.

Carleen and Neil always loved staying active through hobbies such as walking (10,000 steps a day!), golfing, and curling. Carleen loved music and could often be found playing the bongos in her younger years, or playing the piano, ukulele, and singing with family and friends in her later years. She enjoyed many wonderful vacations with Neil, her family, and friends, including trips to Australia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Hawaii/the US.

Many people over the years have referred to Carleen as being “one of a kind.” Not only was she beautiful inside and out, she was patient, caring, loyal, positive, determined, and incredibly strong. She told jokes that made people laugh until they cried. She would do anything for those she loved, and family was everything to her. There’s absolutely nothing Carleen wouldn’t have done for her husband, daughters, and four grandchildren.

Carleen is survived by her husband Neil; eldest daughter Dani (Nick); youngest daughter, Nicole (Anthony); and grandchildren, Cohen, Vayla, Harlow, and Hudson. She is also survived by her siblings Judy (Henry), Terry (Annette), Lynn (Frank), and Holly (Darren), and sister-in-law, June (Allan), as well as many extended family members and wonderful friends.

Carleen was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July 2020. Her spirit and soul would’ve fought forever, but her body couldn’t fight any longer. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Myeloma Canada. It is Carleen’s family’s hope that there will one day be a cure for this disease.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ketch, and the wonderful staff at the Hospice House Kelowna and BC Cancer Centre.

A celebration of Carleen’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025,  at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Lunch will be served afterwards. Please honour Carleen’s vibrant personality by wearing bright Colours.

Thank you mom, for being the brightest light in our lives, a wonderful role model, and providing inspiration that will carry us throughout the rest of our lives.

Rest in peace — we will love and miss you forever.

    To Neil and family,
I remember Carleen from my days in Langenburg. I recall her as a warm, kind and an angelic nurse.. I am sorry for your loss, hold those cherished memories close and smile knowing she lived & loved well.

  • Marg Fraser says:

Our hearts are broken at the loss of our dear friend “Car” or as we used to call each other 40 years ago “Bird” … Carleen and I lived together in Brandon when we were nursing there … both married “Fraser” boys (not related), stood up with each other in our weddings, (in Carleen and Neil’s wedding we had “sunset photos” taken with the bridal party and then some of us had “sunrise” pictures taken on the tractor!) and we had two daughters each. We went on a Caribbean Cruise together, travelled and made memories that I will cherish forever. Although our lives took separate paths after we both married and their move to BC our hearts remained intertwined and when we got together it was as if no time had passed! So much reminiscing and laughter! Miss you “Bird” … your work on earth is done and you are now at peace in God’s hands. Love you …

  • Joan and Larry Dicks says:

We are sending prayers your way and hoping you know how much we care. BLESSINGS ..
