We Remember
FRENCH, Leon “Bud”
December 9, 1935 — August 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that we say a final farewell to Bud. He quietly passed August 19, 2025, at Brookhaven Long Term Care Facility, where he resided with Gerry.
Bud was a father of sons, a grandfather, great-grandfather, an uncle, a cousin, and a spouse to Gerry Chapman for more than 20 years. They found each other in their sixties, and neither had a greater love than what they found in each other.
He was a prankster and loved to make Gerry laugh, something he did until the day he died. Bud also played junior baseball in his youth and was a loyal Blue Jays fan.
Bud was very well known in Kelowna. He taught in the public school system, was a principal, and later joined the real estate board. He also volunteered for both the Lions and Royal Canadian Legion for most of his retirement.
Bud was cremated at Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna; no service or internment will be had as per his wishes.
It is his hope that the Legion will raise a glass to him and his service.
You will be missed!

I worked with Bud at Belgo School and he was also my real estate agent after that.. Bud was a straight shooter. I always appreciated his complete honesty whether dealing with school children, staff and in real estate. I certainly valued his friendship.
I have not seen Bud for a number of years but I would recognize him easily by the photo of him in the obituary. He was a fine fellow and a joy to know. I think he used to volunteer with the hot air balloons. Rest in peace Bud. You are remembered.
