We Remember
FREY, Wilfred
July 30, 1946 — January 23, 2017
Born July 30, 1946 in Taber, Alberta and passed away on January 23, 2017 in Kelowna, BC. Survived by his loving family: wife Laurette; daughter Sherry (Randy) Paul and their children Hannah and Cassidy; son Dale (Shauna) Frey and their children Christopher and Bryson; Sherry and Dales mother Shirley Frey; two sisters and three brothers.
Wilfred grew up in Taber, Alberta, where he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. As a young adult, he moved to Calgary in the early 60’s. Wilfred had several vocations as a mechanic, a salesman and then developing, manufacturing and marketing products in the uninterruptable power supply industry (ups). This is where he focused his talents for the rest of this life, starting several successful businesses.
In the early 90’s, he moved to Kelowna BC, where he opened another successful ups business; pioneering innovative design and manufacturing strategies. In his spare time, Wilfred was an enthusiastic breeder of horses and enjoyed the western way of life. He also enjoyed being involved in the bucking bull industry as a breeder and avid fan, travelling to different locations in North America to bull riding events. He was involved in the production of rodeos in and around Kelowna, for several years. Throughout his life, Wilfred kept in touch with his school friends from Taber. In 2016 he was diagnosed with Laryngeal cancer which he battled with until it took his life.
There will be a celebration of Wilfred’s life on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5009 48 Ave, Taber, AB . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We are thinking of you at this time. You are remembered in our prayers.
May you rest in peace buddy. We shared a lot of memories and good times. My sincerest condolences to Laurette and your whole family.
Few years ago, I was new in the Okanagan. I was struggling to find a good job. One evening; less than 10 minutes after my prayer to God in regards to my financial needs, Wilfred called me to offer me a job. The next day he made me the most generous employment offer in my entire career. I was really grateful to the Lord! I can testify of this man’s generosity! Wilfred was known to be a strong-willed person, but he was also capable to be tenderhearted and meaningful with his gifts. I don’t know if he made it right with God according to what I personally believe, but the memory of this man helping me in my career will always remain.
Thank you Jesus that you put Wilfred on my path!
Bill H.
RIP Wilf
I’m an ex Always On employee. I just got to know today that Mr. Frey had passed away couple of years back. I feel extremely saddened to hear this and feel like a personal loss. Well, I owe a lot to Mr. Frey. He was the first person to offer me a professional employment in his company when I migrated to Canada as a new immigrant and a young new grad from India in 2007 who knew nothing or no one and was perplexed what I will do or where I will go next. He personally came to Kelowna airport to pick me up and put me in a luxurious motel till the time I found a permanent accommodation.
I stand where I am right now because of the footing he gave. He is a godly figure to me and I’m sure his soul would have found a supreme place in heaven. Miss you sir. May your soul rest in peace and bless us!
My deeply condolences for you loss. I am a former worker of Always OnUPS he treat us fairly and as an employer he was as a father for us, I do remember than back in 2007 the company has a employee magazine where all our personal events events were published
I knew Will when he was dating Shirely Smart in the 60’s and we got into no end of trouble with someone else’s ’49 Ford that had no brakes. Then he helped me get my first job. Shirely call Dennis: 306 – 588 – 2668. RIP Will.
