We Remember

FROHLICK, Gordon

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gordon on Saturday, May 3, 2014.  Gord was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 5, 1944 and was a proud Saskatchewan Roughrider fan.  Golf was his passion and he loved his golf course at Sunset Ranch as well as the winters he spent in Palm Springs.  Lovingly remembered by his wife Jane; son Jason and daughter-in-law Shannon; daughter Joanne and his grandsons Ethan and Jacob; his brother Bob and sister-in-law Mary Lynn, brother Ricky, sister-in-law Melva and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents John and Magdalene and brother Adie.  Missed, but never forgotten, a piece of Gord will always be carried in the hearts of his family and friends.  There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 7th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Ranch Golf and Country Club, 5101 Upper Booth Road, on Thursday, May 8th at 3:30 pm.  As Gord was known for his colourful golf attire, we encourage you to wear yours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Condolences

  • Sharon, Bob & family says:

    Jane, Joanne, Max & family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Gord’s passing. I had spoken to Gord often but had no idea what a character he was until his 65th party. Lots of laughs, all at his expense of course. He and Bob solved the problems of the world, while Gord was supposedly taking Max for his afternoon saunter. Come to think of it, he did the same thing with Shandi too. I always wondered why it took Bob so long to cut the grass. We will miss him. Our thoughts are with you, Jane.

  • Linda and Jaimie says:

Jane and family – Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss Gord walking Max past our house, telling him to “behave” when all Max wanted to do was say hello to his four legged friends. Know that you are surrounded my many friends and neighbors who are there for you.

  • Rita Fransen / Ed Morris says:

Joanne and Family, our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

  • Tracey Wilson says:

My heart goes out to the Frohlick family at this time. I will remember Gord for his generous hospitality and his skill at the bbq.
Tom and I hope you are able to find comfort in family and friends during this very difficult time.
With sadness, Tracey Wilson and Tom Partel

  • Ruth and Mark Hurwitz says:

Jane, Joanne,Jason & Max. Words cannot adequately express our feelings. We truly loved Gordie, and were so very glad that you guys became part of our life when we bought our place at Mesquite. I am very happy that I was able to take Gord to the Classic club for a round of golf. We both played well, but as usual, he played better. I could not figure out how to take a selfie of the two of us during the round, but here is a picture from the course. It was truly a special day that we both thoroughly enjoyed. While Ruth and I will not be physically in attendance Thursday to celebrate his life, we will be with you in spirit, and will make sure to raise a glass in his honor.
    Love to you all,
    Ruth and Mark

We were greatly saddened to learn of Gordie’s passing. Palm Springs for us will never be quite the same. Always the organizer and social convener. He probably knew more people in our complex than anyone else. He always had a smile and cheerful greeting for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of your great loss.
