We Remember

FRY, Elaine Betty
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Elaine Betty Fry. Loving wife, mother, daughter and Gramma, Elaine passed away peacefully at home in West Kelowna, BC on February 16, 2020 at the age of 63 with her husband and one sister by her side.
Elaine was born in Winchester, ON to parents Merle and Betty Casselman. In the early 70’s she moved from Morrisburg, ON to BC. She was always creative and go-giving; she joined Mary Kay in 1983 and became a Director in 1986. She did very well, made the Top 10 in Canada for many years, drove a signature Mary Kay pink Cadillac and earned many all-expense paid trips to numerous locations around the world. Elaine was loved and respected by so many in her Mary Kay world for her energy, enthusiasm, training and leadership over the years.
Elaine married James ‘Jim’ Fry in 1982. Jim is very proud and feels so blessed to have shared in Elaine’s journey. She was loved by so many and loved so many, especially her daughter Lisa and her family. ‘Gramma Days’ were exceptionally special to Elaine and her grandchildren. She maintained her positive attitude and determination to beat the cancer, right up until the last minute.
She was predeceased by her sister Janet Duval [Georges]. Elaine is survived by and will be missed by her husband Jim, daughter Lisa (Jason) McMurray, grandson Dakota, granddaughter Alina, mother Betty Lind, brother Steve (Cora) Casselman, sisters Nancy Fichtner and Michelle Murphy, Aunt Sandy (Serge) and Uncle Raymond: Candace, Daemon, Carter, Kevin and Mandy, as well as 5 great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless more family members brought into her life via marriage/s…who she also loved fiercely, and they all felt it.
Elaine will be loved, missed and remembered forever!

Elaine was very special. Because she made everyone feel special. Whether it was her birthday collages or just her big bright smile when she walked in the room. She had that gift. After my accident and after my parents separated, it was around thanksgiving and your Mom invited my Mom and I to your family brunch for thanksgiving. Didn’t even think. Just knew we needed to be together, needed a sense of belonging. I will always cherish that thanksgiving memory and today, because of her, it is my favourite holidays.
Your mom loved culture. And learning so much about it. I remember one summer I was invited to your family trip to Washington. It was probably one of the best vacations. One of the memories I have of that trip is she wanted us to experience the culture. Of course we were teenagers and didn’t “care” but she took us to a real life pow wow. We rolled our eyes, but she dragged us along. It was honestly one of the greatest memories of mine. It was such a beautiful experience and I look forward to sharing something like that with my kids today.
I have a lot of stories to share, as she would say about you and me together, but those are the two I will cherish most. But of course, I will cherish most her memory. She was such a beautiful soul. I will miss her dearly.
I met Elaine in 1998 through Mary Kay. She was an incredible leader and inspiration for female entrepreneurs. I hadn’t seen her in 20 years, but her teachings m, her generosity and that giant smile have stuck with me through the years. I remember Elaine telling me how she would play this game at red lights. She would look at the driver next to her and try to get them to smile. Anyone who had the pleasure of being around her, left with a smile on their face. Sending my love and condolences to her family at this difficult time.
Angels are such an amazing thing. When you meet them in person you take a step back and look and realize just how they touched you
You are all here because Elaine touched you the same way. Her light would shine so brightly day in and day out even knowing what she was facing I’ll miss that light I’ll miss that spirit may she look over us all, along with lisas family and her husband Jim sadly you will be missed but will forever live in our hearts
Elaine was waiting for dental work, when i walked in as her assistant. I remember her smile and feeling instantly at ease. She made me feel like i was one of her loved ones from the get go, Before i even discovered i knew her daughter Lisa.
I felt as though i could curl up right beside her and tell her everything about my life, the good, and bad and shed tell me “it’ll be okay!
Thats how you felt after one encounter with Elaine. She’d make me a special birthday art on facebook. She’d cheer me on!
Elaine! I’m happy your pain is over, but I’m saddened because the world got a little dimmer.
My deepest condolences 🖤
Elaine, please continue to cheer us all on from up there

I love you Elaine ❤️ You were not only my Aunt, but my mentor and friend. Your light was so beautiful and a gift to all who knew you. I know Jesus was waiting for you with arms wide open and I can imagine your big, beautiful smile as He embraced you ❤️ Until I see you again… I’ll be missing you ❤️ Love Heather
When I think of Aunt Elaine, I can see her big smile, and I can feel her direct focus. She was always interested in whatever I was saying, and she gave her full attention to me when we were together. Her passion for her faith, family, and her friends was easy to see. Thank you Elaine for having a positive influence on my life.
So many memories and I can hardly think of which one to share.. I have several pairs of crazy socks. But, I also have a drawer of my favourite PJ’s. Elaine gave the Directors new night shirts for every Bootcamp.
Elaine you were a force to be reckoned with. You will be missed by many and never forgotten. I will cherish my memories with a giggle in my soul for many, many of them.
Elaine was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met, both inside and out. She was fearless, determined, positive, patient,
kind and always had a smile on her face. She had the ability to make you feel special in a room full of strangers. She was a gift to us all, and will be remembered fondly. Hugs to her family and friends! Your smile lives on 🙂
Jim & Lisa and the whole family we are deeply sadden to hear of Elaine. She was a beautiful lady, energetic soul and loved life. I’m grateful to have met her one Seminar in Toronto for Mary Kay. She supported Domenic and I business of Prima Wrap all the way across the country to BC. She will be greatly missed and loved forever!
