We Remember
GANSKE, Catherine Grace (nee Berggren)
—
Cathy ended her journey on Earth on the beautiful sunny morning of June 12, 2016 at age 46 surrounded by loved ones in Kelowna, BC. Cathy was born in Penticton on October 21, 1969 where she lived until moving to Kelowna in 1991. She married her true love Murray in Kelowna in 1995.
Cathy dedicated much time, energy and love to not only her own children, but also to numerous children with disabilities whom she worked with at the Boys and Girls Club, as well as those her family provided foster care for in their home. Cathy also enjoyed working at the Okanagan Regional Library for 9 years.
Family was always the most important aspect of Cathy’s life. Attending family events, going camping, and hosting backyard parties with family were the activities she cherished most. No matter what challenges Cathy faced throughout her life, she always had time for a chat and a hug with those she cared about.
Cathy will be remembered for her tireless generosity and kindness, her love of laughter and friendship, her genuine charm, enthusiastic conversation and her radiant smile. Cathy’s memory will forever be cherished by her husband Murray, their daughters Emily and Natasha, her parents Valerie (David) and Carl (Lonja), her brother Carl (Michelle) and their children, brother Peter (Morgan), and many other extended family members and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the BC SPCA on Cathy’s behalf. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 18th at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. I wish to pass on our most sincere condolences to all that loved Cathy.
We never knew her personally but do know her girls as well as Michelle and her children through a martial arts school that we are all members at.
Your family at GWMA grieves with you.
~She is not truly gone, she has just gone ahead~
Sincerely, Carol, Taylor and Tori Romanchuk
I was saddened to hear of Cathy’s passing. We often worked together at the Kelowna library and I always so enjoyed her huge smile, gentle manner and enthusiasm for whatever she was doing. It was always a good shift if Cathy was working that day. She often spoke, with such pride, of her girls and of family activities. My condolences to all of you.

We are very sorry to hear that Cathy passed away. I first met her 20 years ago and worked with her at Headquarters for many years. She was always a positive person who loved her family very much. My daughter, Melissa, was in the same Grade 12 class with her daughter at K.S.S. and was very upset to hear that Cathy had died. She will be truly missed. Our hearts are with you.
So sad to hear of Cathy’s death. Our hearts grieve along with friends and family. There is comfort and hope in what Revelation 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Also John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;” What a happy time that will be when death will be replaced with resurrections and Cathy will live again. Although these thoughts do not take away the grief at present; may Gods Word be a source of comfort for you and your family.
