We Remember

GARDINER, Joyce Lenora

May 20, 1932 — December 25, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Joyce Lenora Gardiner, who passed away quietly into the hands of the Lord on Christmas Day, at the age of 92.

Left to hold her dear to their hearts are her 3 children Pam (Dave), Ian, and Glenn; 3 grandchildren Brian (Audra), Dustin (Peggy), and Clint;  5 great-grandchildren Dominick, Nathaniel, Cederick, Athena, and Odin; and 2 great-great-grandchildren Dominica and Dominique, who will all miss her deeply.

Joyce now goes to join those who passed before her, including her beloved husband Jack; son Robb; and brother Bill, who passed away in WWII.

Born on May 20, 1932, to Will and May Page, Joyce lived a life filled with love, kindness, and support to others. Originally from Saskatchewan, Joyce made Kelowna her home in 1991. In retirement, her talents and compassionate spirit continued to enrich the lives of those around her, embodying the essence of selflessness and community.

A proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Joyce devoted her time and resources to helping those in need. She was also a valued member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), passionately supporting young women in their educational pursuits. These commitments reflected her lifelong dedication to creating opportunities and uplifting others. Throughout her life she loved to sing and possessed a beautiful mezzo-soprano voice.

Kelowna quickly became a cherished home for Joyce. She embraced the beauty and lifestyle of British Columbia, finding joy in all it had to offer. Joyce had a love for golf, bridge, and gardening and flowers, creating spaces that reflected her warmth and care.

Above all, Joyce treasured her family. They were the heart of her world, and her love for them was boundless. Her home was always a welcoming place filled with laughter, love, and the simple joys of togetherness.

In the last eight years of her life, Joyce faced health challenges with grace and resilience. For the past six years, she lived at Brandt’s Creek Mews, where her kindness and bright spirit earned her many friends among residents and caregivers alike.

Joyce’s presence touched countless lives, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to others that will not be forgotten.
