GENDEMANN, Edith UPDATED BURIAL INFO
December 16, 1943 — April 7, 2026
The family extends an invitation to join them as they lay Edith to rest during a small graveside service on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.
Edith Gendemann passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on December 16, 1943, in Germany and immigrated to Canada as a child.
Kind and inquisitive, Edith carried herself with grace and genuine class. She was thoughtful and respectful, always speaking kindly of others. Edith built a successful career as a talented hairdresser and entrepreneur, owning salons throughout Edmonton, AB, and Kelowna, BC. In her spare time, she found joy in nature and especially enjoyed fishing trips.
Though reserved by nature, Edith had an adventurous spirit and a deep love of travel, visiting many destinations across Europe over the years. She was equally at ease hosting elegant dinner parties in her home or gathering friends around the card table – a consummate hostess who made everyone feel welcome.
Twelve years ago, she retired to Kelowna, BC, to spend time with many of her friends and family in the Okanagan. In her later years, she embraced technology with characteristic curiosity, surfing the web with ease and staying connected with loved ones near and far through email and video calls.
Edith has now gone to join her brother Leo, who predeceased her. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Randy (Ilona) of Kelowna and Ken (Kim) of San Francisco, CA; her grandchildren, Mariah (Dante) and Madison (Rickey); and her great-grandchild, Keanu; as well as her sister, Elfrieda, and brother-in-law, Richard, of Kelowna. Edith will be deeply missed, and we were truly blessed to have her in our lives.
A Funeral Service to honour Edith will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 4:00 pm (PT), at Springfield Funeral Home (2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC), with Jordan Pilgrim as celebrant.
