We Remember

GEORGE, Douglas Andrew

January 6, 1946 — July 13, 2025

Douglas George was born in Penticton, BC, when the snow sat low on the hills on January 6, 1946. He left this world in the warmth of July 13, 2025, at Kelowna General, aged 79. He’s called Kelowna home since the late ’70s.

Doug was the kind of man who could make a lawnmower sing again, who knew how to coax plumbing into silence, and who bought broken cars and sold them running…
Sometimes, better than new. He fixed what the world gave up on.

He worked jobs, many of them. He wasn’t the sort to talk much about it – he’d just showed up, worked, laughed when it was raining. He didn’t gather crowds, but the friends he had were real… The kind you don’t measure in numbers, but in how they show up when the world’s quiet.

He is remembered by his children: Robert (Alisha), Chris (Lynn), Melanie George, Robin, Gordon, and Brett; and by his grandchildren: Leigh, Dorothy, Isabella, Nathan, Tyler, Arthur, Aiyana, Brandon, Bradley, and Amora.

He is not gone. He’s in the tools left behind, the socket sets and rusted screws, the hum of something fixed. And, he’s in the joke someone tells – a little too dry, a little too true – and in the laugh that follows.
