Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 69. Survived by his loving wife Lynne of 45 years, daughters Staci (Darren) Gratton of West Kelowna, BC and Stefani (Michael) Oakes of Kelowna, BC, son Scott (Christine) of Princeton, BC, grandchildren Cherish, Hope and Faith Gilbert and Bethany and Bodhi Gratton, brothers David (Doreen) of Onoway, AB and Frank (Dot) of Tomahawk, AB and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by an infant brother Mark and his parents Howard and Frances. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow at a later date. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donation may be made to a charity of their choice.

Dear Lynne and family, we are so very sad to hear of John’s passing. He was an awesome husband, Dad and friend, and his magnetic personality will always live on in all that knew him. His larger than life smile and shenanigans always brought fond memories to us. Thinking of all you with love.
Lynne and family my sincere sadness is sent to you at this time. I went to school with John in Tomahawk and will always remember his winning smile. I recall our last meeting at the July 1st picnic in Tomahawk. We were standing in line for our annual homemade hamburger and had a nice chat.

There are so many memories with John that involved smiling and laughter. If there is a Highway Patrol in Heaven, we all now have a reason to worry.

Dearest Lynne and your entire family. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you. Val worked with John at ICBC and I worked with John in the RCMP. I can assure you that everyone who knew John, had much respect and admiration for his friendship, work ethics and love of his family. I will be attending on Sunday however Val regrets she cannot attend as she is out of the country. Our condolences to all.

He loved to tell jokes and would bring people in to our area of the claim Centre) shut the door (in case someone would be offended) and tell the joke and have a good laugh. I would have liked to come to his funeral but I’m in Yuma For the winter. Take care of yourselves John loved you all and was proud of you. God bless

What a surprise & shock to learn of John’s passing!!!!!!! Many years have gone by since you and us were stationed in Revelstoke…neighbors just doors away and Dick & Janice Latta next door to you..I will cherish the memory of John, his quick wit and prankesterism..and what a memo writer when needed in a dire situations…Coincidently Al Brassnet (our Boss)just recently passed away also…May John rest in peace and enjoy the company of past comrades..
