We Remember

GILLETT, Everett “Wayne”

April 29, 1954 — March 3, 2021

On Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Wayne Gillett passed away peacefully at the age of 66.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on April 29, 1954, Wayne moved to Alberta in 1963 with his mother and father and little sister Hope Ann. Finishing school, he moved around for a time and then settled in Hinton, Alberta and worked at the mill for several years. It was there that Wayne met his future wife Dy-Anna and daughter Shyla. Wayne and Dy-Anna were married on August 22, 1987 in Kamloops, BC.

Wayne and his family moved back to Kamloops where he went to college and became a Drafstman. He worked for a few steel shops in the Okanagan and went on to open his own company. He was good at his work.

Wayne loved his dogs, fishing and golfing, and loved spending time in the yard and fruit trees.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Dy-Anna, and daughter Shyla (Scott); grandchildren Keenan, Chloe, Quinn and Sierra; sisters Shirley Becchin and Hope (Pat) Redekop; brother-in-law Eric Fairbrother; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by Carro Fairbrother and Mavis Pallardy. Wayne loved his family and was super proud of his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wayne to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association or Central Okanagan Hospice House.
