Condolences

To the family of Dear Gwen. My mom (Mary Minchuk) and Gwen lived as neighbours at Northwood and had a special friendship, as sisters in Christ. Gwen was a loving and thoughtful beautiful lady who never hesitated to lend a hand, offer a prayer or check in on my mom. I’m sure she has a special place in Heaven. God bless you and comfort you as a family.

Hi Liz, Bob, Dan and Families,
This is the message I had tried to send to you yesterday. Since it did not go through I am resending it today.
Our deepest sympathy to you all from Ed and I, Sean, Scott and their families. Whenever I think of Gwen I always smile. I always remember her as “Gwenny Gummers”. I don’t know where that nickname came from but it has stayed with me:)
I remember how Gwen could swim with her head held way above the water so her hair never got wet! I aspire to swim just like her. Gwen had the most infectious laugh! She lived life joyfully and prayerfully.
We will miss her here on earth. I am comforted to know that she is now with Frank and their families in heaven.
Kathy, Eddy, Sean, Shaena, Scott and Kaitlyn Furlong

I taught with Gwen who was much loved at St. Francis in Mississauga, last visited her in 2007 in Kelowna. She was the best!

  • Loyola Carey says:

Your mom was a volunteer in my classroom in Ontario. She was a ray of sunshine in my life and became a wonderful confidant. My sympathies to you and your families.

  • Charlotte Leavitt says:

Gwen was a much loved member of the St. Francis of Assisi scool community – loved by staff and students alike. I’ll never forget the day Gwen substituted in the behavior class. One of the students who was new to the school mouthed off to Gwen and another student said: “You can’t talk to her that way. That’s Mrs. Godfrey!” Definitely the best!
