We Remember
Goode, Shirley
April 12, 1932 — August 30, 2012
Shirley was born in Trail, BC and spent a happy childhood in Blueberry and Kinnaird, BC. After her high school graduation, she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Toronto, Ontario with the rank of Leading Airwoman from 1952 to 1953. From there, she moved to Vancouver and worked as the head secretary for the United Airlines District Manager from 1959 to 1967. She lived in Port Coquitlam from 1962 until 1967 when she married her beloved husband, Al Goode, blended their families, and moved to Conroe, Texas. It was there that she assisted him in his wet spent brewers grain businesses, National Feeds and Northern Feeds. They moved to Kelowna, BC in 1972 where they expanded their company to include ASG Management, Goode Properties, and Lone Pine Ranch. Shirley was a wonderful hostess and many friends and family members benefitted from her culinary skills. She loved to travel and reached her goal of visiting all of the seven continents. She also loved to spend time at her second home in Westcliffe, Colorado. It was there that she passed away tragically in a car accident. She will be dearly missed by her six children: Kelley Goode; Gwen Hurt; Bruce (Mary-Lyn) Goode; Lynn (Harrison) Goode; Tim (Dorothy) Goode; and Terry Goode, as well as her twelve grandchildren: Angie (Scott) Truesdale; Derrik (Leigh) Davis; Dustin (Kristina) Davis; Brandon (Greta) Montes; Josh (Jackie) Goode; Ashley (Ricky) Caldwell; Jason Goode; Amy (John) Geistlinger; Evan Goode; Kayla Hurt; Thomas Goode; and Avery Goode. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Claudia Davis; Oliver Montes; Liam Truesdale; Wyatt Davis; Eli Geistlinger; and Cash Davis. She is survived by her doting brothers, Ed (Marney) Collinson and Jack (Mildred) Collinson as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her cherished husband and partner of 36 years, Al Goode, as well as her parents Bill and Gladys Collinson. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I have such wonderful memories of both Shirley & Al.
We were so sorry to hear, via my sister, Maxine Silver, that Shirley had passed while in Colorado.
We appreciate that you took the time to let friends know of your loss. It’s been a long
time since we saw Shirl (and Al), and that was at least 30 years ago when they came through
Redding (Calif.) and took us out to dinner. Our paths have not crossed since then, but we remember
them both fondly. My parents, Dave and Jean Davies, were friends with Bill and Gladdy from the time
they all lived in Kinnaird until their deaths. And Shirl was always a part of that circle, and then her large extended family, too. We were always interested in hearing the goings-on of the Collinson/Goode
clan.
Please accept our our sincerest sympathy in this time of grief. Our hearts go out to all the family
members and friends who will be mourning the loss of this lovely lady.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to all the Goode family. I met your Mom a few times. I went to see her one time with Molly Ross who is my neighbour (in Airdrie, Alberta) Your Mom was so great and made me feel right at home. She was a special lady.
I had the privilege of knowing Shirley some years ago when she came to my Curves For Women Club in Rutland . We all enjoyed getting to know Shirley. She was a very warm and caring lady. We missed her when she left and I have thought of her often as she was one of those people who left a lasting impression. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
A true tragedy of immense proportions. Shirley was truly a kind, generous, and selfless person. I will miss her spirit greatly. My deepest condolences to the entire Goode family. Special sympathies to Terry, Angie, & Brandon. Shirley and all of you, will be in most inner thoughts & prayers. May God be with you all.
Love, Joseph

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who have reached out to our family during this very difficult time.
It is comforting to know that so many of you loved our mother and stepmother. She was, as has been mentioned in the condolences, an extraordinary woman.
She is deeply missed.

We are so sorry for each of the Goode family’s loss. Claudine Barringer and Rex Goode from McAlester, OK also send their love.
From the first moment that we met Shirley, she took us into her family and heart, as we did her. Her beautiful smile and gracious hospitality always made us feel welcome and loved. We will always cherish her memory and are blessed by having her as a part of our family.
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Shirley. She was a wonderful, dear Lady, and was much loved by our family. She married our cousin, Al Goode, and very quickly became a precious member of the family.
To the entire Goode family please accept my heartfeld condolences. Shirley will be missed so much. She was a wonderful person and I am priviledged to have know her all these years. I met Shirley and Al through mutual friends and being from South Africa we instantly had a connection. Those were the days.
