We Remember

GRADO, Courtney
November 5, 1987 — June 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, Courtney Jacquelyn Grado on June 14, 2025. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and forever loved by everyone she knew.
Courtney was born in Kelowna BC on November 5, 1987, and was such an outgoing loving girl from the moment she was born. When she was young, we called her our social butterfly as there wasn’t a person she met that couldn’t resist her outgoing and loving personality. We are going to miss her smile, her laugh, and the way that she cared about people throughout her life.
Courtney lost her brother and best friend Matt in June of last year and now they will be together again forever and always.
Courtney is survived by her mom and dad Terry and Don Smith who are grief stricken and devastated by her sudden loss as is the rest of her family. She will also be missed by her dad Todd Grado (Jessica) and Todd’s brothers Troy (Alison Grado and family) and Tyler Grado.
Courtney was very close to her family, so we also need to include all those family members who loved her dearly: Her sister-in-law Haeleigh and her nieces Aubrie-Lynn and Livia, and her nephew Jaxson; she was extremely close to her Aunty Laurie and Uncle Mark and their kids Chelsea, Curtis and Ben; and also her Uncle Dan and Aunty Tammy Assam and their kids Kobe, Kyler and Jaida. She loved you all so very much.
We also know that her partner, Michael Blanchett, will miss her as will her many, many friends.
We have lost our Courtney who had a wonderful soul and spirit and ask and invite all those who knew her to please to come help us say goodbye by joining us at her Memorial Service (celebration of life) held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm (PDT), at Trinity Church, 1905 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Terry and family.. even though we never got to meet Courtney, we are devastated for your loss once again. She and Matt can now be together watching over all of your family. Our condolences to all of you.
As a resident of the floor on which Courtney lived on in Calgary I (and recently a daughter who
met her by chance) had gotten to know Courtney’s effervescent spirit and kindness over 2 years plus. Just a month ago she had insisted on walking me over to my daughter’s residence. It is heartbreaking that you have suffered these losses. Courtney had so much joy and spirit left to give those who met her and loved her.
We are remembering: ‘Don’t think of the love you lost. think of the love they left to share’ (Charlie Brown):
May you and all your family continue to stay strong and thank you for sharing. 🥀Wendy Robson
Dear Terry, Donny and all of the family,
Courtney was truly a special soul, her heart was pure and you’d gravitate towards her.. I remember when I stayed with you when I was a teenager and I thought wow I get to stay here and hang out with Courtney and Matt, I’m so lucky, The world will miss both of your children deeply. I am so deeply sorry for the pain you’re feeling and send my love endlessly,
