We Remember

GRAHAM, Douglas John
July 19, 1957 — January 1, 2016
With heavy hearts and raised glasses, we say goodbye to our brother and dear friend “Dougie.” He battled cancer for the last two years and lost his biggest fight, January 1, 2016.
Doug was born in Campbell River; he loved growing up on the island. His first job was working with his step dad Earl as a logger. Wanting more adventure, Doug moved on.
He owned a stereo store in Ottawa, was a heavy equipment operator/rock truck driver in Fort St. John, Fort Mac. He also lived in Grande Prairie and Edmonton in the 30s’ and 40s’. Doug made many friends on his journeys. When he decided to settle in one place, Doug moved to Winfield, BC, for the last 10 years he enjoyed wine country and the friends he made there, this was his last home.
Doug loved his Harley and had many memorable rides with his brothers and good friends. He was a man always looking for an adventure. He loved his dogs Kuma (deceased) and Bear, they were his children. Doug loved to laugh, he loved a good steak and yes… loved his wine.
Doug donated his time and money to a cause close to his heart, The Lake Country Food Bank. He was grateful for the friendship he had with Phyllis MacPherson, he respected her and the work she did for the community.
Doug is survived by his step-father Earl, his sisters Laurie and Arlene. Mother, Doralee deceased. Doug has many brothers and sisters whom he called family; we will all miss him dearly. Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. Any donations please make to the SPCA or The Lake Country Food Bank.
Cheers, as we say our last good byes, see you on the other side Dougie.

It is a sadness to hear the passing of Doug. Unfortunately we only got to know Doug for the passed year. We enjoyed Doug’s company with his amazing humor and quick wit. Although Doug was not a highly educated individual , he had a brilliant mind, which we both enjoyed. During the time of his fight for life, Doug continued to visit and enjoyed laughter with friends. He had a huge heart, and was a very giving person who helped so many people through a wonderful friend, Phyllis MacPherson, at the Lake Country Food Bank. It has been our pleasure to have met this most interesting man.
Still thinking of you many times. And I always will.
Earl, Laurie, Denis, Arlene and family, I heard about Doug’s passing and I wanted to say I was sorry for your loss. Pain nor suffering no more.
