GRANT, John Richard
June 25, 1930 — May 16, 2013
(Born June 25, 1930 Sexsmith, Alberta)
Passed away peacefully on May 16, 2013. John will be deeply missed by his loving wife Jane (Swanson Grant); his 5 daughters: Lorie Paterson (Mike), Linda Grant (Dave), Maureen Grant Hayes (Rod), Elizabeth Grant (Don) and Theresa Grant; 10 grandchildren: Sam, Brendan, Katie, Laura, Denzil, Matthew, Melanie, Ken, John and Veronica and 2 great-grandchildren: Claragh and Alice. He was predeceased by their mother Catherine. Also fondly remembered by stepsons: Jim (Lori) Swanson and Ken (Karen) Swanson and 4 grandchildren: Shelby, Amanda, Zachary and Rachel. Also mourning him are Jane’s brother Gary (Margaret) Millar.
John joins his father Ed, mother Florence, brother Jim and sisters Kay and Dolores. He has one remaining brother Dennis in Grande Prairie, Alberta and sister-in-law Beatrice Grant in White Rock, BC.
John was a member of the RCAF, Squadron 426 from 1949-1963, then joined the Ministry of Transportation until his retirement as Chief Executive Pilot in 1980 and subsequent move to Kelowna. John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 7359 and Fr. Pierre Richard Council No. 0035, St. Pius X Church and 883 (Kelowna) RCAF Wing, Air Force Association of Canada. He was a board member for Reach Out Youth Counselling and Family Services.

Prayers will be held Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm with a Funeral Mass, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Church, 1346 Gordon Drive. Interment will follow at a later date in TeePee Creek, Alberta. Please, no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Reach Out Youth Counselling and Family Services, 1868 Ambrosi Road, Kelowna, BC V1Y 4R9.
