We Remember
GRIESHEIMER, Rose Marie
May 30, 1946 — September 16, 2026
It is with great love and sorrow that we announce the loss of Rose Marie Griesheimer, who passed away peacefully, while surrounded by family, on September 16, 2026.
Rose is lovingly survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Griesheimer; children Kendrick Griesheimer, Liza Bardwell, and Darcy Griesheimer; grandchildren Kyle (Justine) Bardwell, Jenicka Bardwell, and Grace Bardwell; great-granddaughter Yelena Bardwell; brothers Cliff (Brenda) Lacktin and Peter Lacktin; one niece and many nephews.
She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her parents Mike and Jean Lacktin; brother Adam Lacktin; and son-in-law Mark Bardwell.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and treasured friend whose family was always the most important part of her life. Born May 30, 1946, in Calder, Saskatchewan, she moved to Kelowna shortly afterward. She later met her husband, Arthur, and together they raised their family in the Rutland area, where Rose became a familiar and much-loved part of the community.
Rose was the steady rock of her family. She kept everyone close through family meals and holiday dinners, where there was always room for one more. Her home was a welcoming place, the coffee was always on, and she was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.
Her caring nature reached well beyond her own family. To the many children she cared for over the years, she was affectionately known as “Auntie Rose.” She was rarely without a project in her hands, whether sewing, knitting, crocheting, or working on another craft. Each year, she also canned the vegetables grown in her husband’s garden.
Rose knew her neighbours and loved a good visit, whether chatting over the fence, stopping someone as they walked by, or catching up with familiar faces at the local IGA. She had a quiet confidence and never looked for recognition for the kindness she showed others.
No one will ever truly know how much good Rose brought into this world because so much of it was done quietly, simply because that was who she was. She gave generously of herself, loved her family deeply, and made people feel welcome. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by the many people whose lives were better for having known her.
