We Remember
GROSCH, Peter Brooks
January 13, 1940 — March 2, 2024
Peter Grosch, 84, lived a life marked by the rugged embrace of the outdoors. An aficionado of the wild, he found solace in the untamed expanse of nature. Hunting was more than just a pastime for Peter. His hound dogs were his companions in the chase, especially in pursuit of cougars, earning him the moniker “Cougar Pete” among those who knew him best. Amidst his pursuits, he also found pleasure in the art of taxidermy, preserving the memories of his hunts with a meticulous hand.
But Peter’s connection to the natural world extended beyond the thrill of the hunt. He revelled in the quiet moments spent fishing by the river’s edge and cherished the scent of freshly chopped wood, a tangible reminder of his symbiotic relationship with the land, he always had chopped wood at hand. As a guide outfitter, he shared his passion for the wilderness with others, imparting wisdom gleaned from years of traversing rugged terrain.
Yet, amidst the rugged exterior, Peter possessed a softer side. His love for animals was evident in the gentle way he interacted with them, a testament to his innate empathy. And when the day’s adventures came to a close, he found joy in the simple pleasure of country music and the rhythmic sway of a dance floor beneath his boots.
In the end, Peter Grosch’s life was a testament to the harmony found in embracing the raw beauty of the natural world—a symphony of hunts and dances, of woodsmoke and laughter, echoing through the annals of time.
Peter will be held dear in the hearts of his family: his beloved wife Sharen; his children Dennis, David, and Stefanie, as well as his stepchildren Tawnya, Natasha, and Holly; his grandchildren Willie, Zach, and Douglas, and step-grandchildren Hailee, Kaiden, Kohen, Autumn, and Hunter; as well as his four-legged family members, Daisy the chocolate lab and the of course the hounds.
