HAIT, Elsie Gladys (née Kraemer)
August 17, 1929 — May 20, 2022
Elsie Hait went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2022, at the age of 92.
Elsie was born to Hermann and Lydia Kraemer on August 17, 1929 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. In the summer of 1936 the family moved to the Kelowna, BC area, where Elsie lived for 80 years. In the fall of 1945, at the age of 16, she attended Herbert’s Business College and then obtained a job at Kelowna City Hall in the spring of 1946, where she worked until the fall of 1955. Elsie married Ervin Hait on May 11, 1951. This union was blessed with three children. She did not work outside the home while her children were young, but later on worked briefly at Glenmore Irrigation District and then as a secretary at Trinity Baptist Church for 14 years, where she kept the office running efficiently. Her hobbies included baking, cake decorating, and singing in a ladies’ trio. Elsie’s faith was central to her life. She attended Grace Baptist Church in her early years and then in 1961 became a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church. Family was always very important to her. She loved celebrating birthdays and other family events, and often travelled out of town to help celebrate these occasions. She had a special spot in her heart for her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. In the summer of 2016, due to health concerns, she moved to the Mission/Abbotsford area to be near her daughter. She always had fond memories of Kelowna and her many friends there. In January 2019, she moved into Bevan Village, Abbotsford, and remained there until her death at age 92. A special thank-you to the staff at Bevan Village for the wonderful care they gave her for the past 3 years.
Elsie was predeceased by both her parents; her husband Ervin; and her stepmother, Ruth. She is survived by her daughter Judy Braun (Harold), son Ron (Theresa), and son Harvey (Carrie); 6 grandchildren: Carmen (Ben), Nicole (James), Shelley (Mike), Alyssa (Erik), Carolyn, and Scott (Esmé); and 9 great-grandchildren: Zoe, Alyssa, Hailey, Everett, Theo, Elisha, Josephine, Henry, and Astrid; as well as by her sister Irene Hait and brother Harold Kraemer; and other extended family members.

An opportunity to pay last respects and visit with the family will be Friday, May 27, 2022, 7-8 pm, at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:30 pm, at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC. Following, all are invited to the Memorial Service at 4:00 pm in the Springfield Funeral Home Chapel, a reception will follow. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family during the Memorial Service, online, by Livestream (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.

Mr. and Mrs. Hait were long time friends of my mom and dad and I remember the many times we were able to get together.
They were with my mom and dad the late spring day at Expo 86 in Vancouver when I introduced my future wife, Dina, to my mom and dad for the first time to my mom and dad. That’s a memory I will always have.

We grieve with you in the loss of your mom, mother-in-law, grandmother. What a blessing to be loved like she loved you! We wish we were there with you in person and are thankful we could be with you through the online service!

We see where this attribute in you comes from… what a beautiful heritage Elsie has left for you – she pointed you to Christ, did her best to live imitating Christ, and loved you all deeply.

Our deepest & heartfelt condolences to Elsie Hait family — so sorry we were not able to attend the service in person , but listened to it on line . Many precious memories ! We go back (1969) a few years !
