We Remember
HAJNRYCH, Cary Allan
January 17, 1971 — September 25, 2026
Cary Allan Hajnrych passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2026, in Kelowna, BC. He was 55 years old.
Cary spent his early years in Revelstoke playing hockey which he parlayed into beer league hockey in Kelowna. He wasn’t fancy, and he didn’t pretend to be. He was the kind of man who showed up for everything and for everyone; whether you asked or not, he would be there for you.
Family was number one. Always. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy; his daughters, Courtney (Brad) Osipow and Jordan (Nico) Sheppard; his son, Connor Hajnrych; his stepchildren, Carlie (Bryce) Ruygrok, Cameron (Rebecca) Turigan, and Justin (Daylene) Squair; his granddaughter Scottie; his father, Mervyn (Jean) Hajnrych; his mother, Jean Mooney; and his sister, Christine Mooney (Rick). He was predeceased by his brother, Billy Hajnrych.
Cary loved hard, and his kids meant everything to him. Underneath that bigger-than-life personality was a heart of gold. He was funny and generous with his time. Some of his best days were quiet ones at home with Wendy, the dogs, and the cats, watching a movie. Road trips with Wendy riding shotgun were a close second.
He was the proud owner of Cary’s Custom Cuts Saw Mill, the business he loved and poured his heart into. He will be missed for his humour, his advice, and the unwavering love and support he gave without ever keeping score.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, drop-in between 1:00 and 4:00 PM (PDT), at the family home, 575 Perry Road, Kelowna, BC.

Oh Wendy and family! We are so deeply saddened to hear about Cary’s sudden passing. While we didn’t get to know him as long as we would have liked, it was impossible not to see the incredible joy he brought into your life. In the time you had together, he lit you up, and you seemed happier than ever.
Please know that we are thinking of you every day and are here for whatever you need in the days and weeks ahead.
With much love (and huge hugs), Tamara, Alastair and crew.
Oh my gosh Wendy I am so sad to read this on Facebook. I am so sorry for you and your family’s loss.

I’m so sorry Courtney to hear about your father’s passing. It will be a difficult road ahead, but he will live on in your memory and heart forever. Sending love to you, Brad and the rest of your family.
Deepest condolences to all
Dear Jordan, Connor, Courtney, Wendy and all of Cary’s family,
My wife, family and I would like to extend our condolences for the loss of a good friend. Cary touched a spot in my soul with our conversations.
Our conversations were mostly always about how to get the job done, but the conversation would always turn back to his children…” Gotta get across the bridge and pick my kids up”
There were not too many talks with Cary that did not include you kids. His love for you shone through.
Very heavy heart
Your friend, Darrell Cornish

Wendy and family so very sorry for your loss. We are still missing Bill. If you need to talk, we are here. Sending love and prayers your way.
